Mad Max: Fury Road

is there a consensus on which of the three Gibson Mad Max films is the best?

The Road Warrior, without a doubt.
Mad Max (the first one) didn't even feel post-apoc....just a basic car-chase action flick that was a little darker than most. Beyond Thunderdome delved into over-the-top silliness from time to time, but was still good; The Road Warrior was far better, though, and set THE standard for the genre.

road warrior because its the standard. mad max was the begening of the end for the world and beyond thunderdome was the world was gone and only small spots being around.

road warrior was perfect for its atmosphere and world. normal men will gather together to get resources, only max wasn't with a group and only wanted gas.

The Road Warrior is the must see best one, no doubt about that. I can take or leave the other two honestly.

should I even watch the other 2, do I have to? or do you guys recommend just jumping to the third one

Watch Road Warrior and then, if you wanna know how he kinda got there, watch Mad Max. You lose nothing by skipping no3.

you will only miss awesome tina turner singing the theme song.

Normally, I wouldn't give two sh**s about this since its just wrong not to do another 20 year-old sequel with the same lead. Mel Gibson, despite his craziness, could've still pulled it off.

However, they got lucky casting Tom Hardy. He is the only reason I'll be watching this.

Ironically, even with his worst movie, Star Trek: Nemesis, he was the best thing about it. Goes to show you how great of an actor he is!

Definitely watch the first one. It's very good and gives you an emotional backstory to Max before watching Road Warrior. It might not be as action packed but it's just as good in other ways.

The namibinan ninjas really need to step it up, only cars and no people?! Come on get us Hardy ffs!

Apparently they have build the Mad Max 2 style black Pursuit Specials as well, so the iconic car will appear in the film at some point.

Megan Gale is a Wonder Woman Warrior in Mad Max Fury Road

Clint Morris August 13, 2012

Congrats to the divinely talented and stunningly beautiful Megan Gale, the Aussie supermodel *** actress who turned heads with her amusing turn in Pete Helliar’s “I Love You Too” a couple of years back, who has been cast in George Miller’s long-awaited revhead blockbuster “Mad Max Fury Road”.

It’s a real win for Gale, considering she missed out on getting to work with Miller on the big-budget superhero flick “Justice League” a couple of years back. The heart-pausing bombshell has been itching for another big-time jaunt in celluloid-land for quite some time – invisible jet or no invisible jet. That “Justice League” movie, in which Gale was set to play lassoing Wonder Woman, was cancelled at the eleventh hour. Another of that film’s attached actors, Hugh Keays-Byrne (‘Martian Manhunter’) is also in “Fury Road”.

Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy headline “Mad Max Fury Road”, which began principal photography on July 9. The reboot of the ‘Mad Max’ franchise also stars bodybuilder Nathan Jones (“Troy”) as Rictus Erecetus, Nicholas Hoult from “X-Men : First Class” as Nux, Keays-Byrne (“Mad Max”) as Immortan Joe, and Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as ‘the wives’.

Also onboard are Supermodel Abbey Lee Kershaw, playing The Dag’; Courtney Eaton has been cast as Fragile; Josh Helman (TV’s “The Pacific”, “Jack Reacher”) is Silt; Jennifer Hagan (“The Night We Called It A Day”) is Miss Giddy; and musician iOTA (is a Top 40-ready theme song on the cards!?) is Coma-Doof Warrior.

A number of Aussie actors, aside from the aforementioned Ms Gale, are also in the film, they include “All Saints” alum John Howard, Angus Sampson (“Insidious”), Gillian Jones (TV’s “Packed to the Rafters”), Richard Carter (“Happy Feet”, “Hating Alison Ashley”), Joy Smithers (TV’s “Home & Away”), Melissa Jaffer (“Farscape”) and Melita Jurisic (TV’s “Something in the Air”).

Aussie showbiz legend Bert Newton was also originally attached to play a role, but dropped out due to the shift in filming locale to Namibia.

“Mad Max Fury Road” sees Mad Max (Hardy) caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the imperator Furiosa (Theron). A battle erupts on the road in front of them over the course of the film as they attempt to push the rig to safer terrain.

I love some of the names for these characters, they're so utterly Australian that it's just amazing. I'm beyond hyped for this.

Every time this thread is bumped and there is no photo of Tom Hardy as Mad Max, I get sad.

Love it, but as a kind of purist, I gotta wonder about being "faithful" to the series. What ever happened to "LAST of the V8s.....?"

v8 intercepters should all be gone, max had the last one and it blew up.

I'm surprised we haven't seen a picture of Hardy on the set yet.
