You can see the influences, or maybe the original comic is influencing some of the movies this is reminding me of? I'm not sure how old the comic is, at any rate it looks really cool to me, I'm in!

Just looked it up and it said the comic came out in January 2012.

Wasn’t aware of this movie until now, but it is definitely on my radar . I might even put it on my most anticipated films this year!!

I'm watching it...nearing the end of the first act...and this thing is so absurd that I can't take it seriously and am considering just giving up to watch something else. But, it's based on a comic book...so I need to watch it to see all of this year's comic book movies.

Doesn't seem to be getting very positive reviews, but I'll still watch it though and judge for myself.

It's just so over the top goofy, trying SO HARD to be edgy and cool...and it seems like in every scene you could point to stuff that seem to be there solely to remind you of another film.

Maybe some people will connect with that style...but it isn't working for me.

It won't be for everybody, but I ended up enjoying this quite a bit. It reminded me a lot of films like Crank and Smokin Aces and if you like those I think you will like this. Mads is such a badass and every action sequence with him in this was awesome. I honestly loved how over the top and unapologetic it was sometimes even if some think its just a complete tonal mess. Also, lawd is Ruby O. Fee a babe.

Having finished this, I will say that the action scenes involving Mads are pretty fun and slightly gruesome. It's just everything else that I didn't like....and there's a whole lot of everything else before the action starts.

I liked both Crank and Smokin' Aces, but man, am I glad that THAT era of action movies is over.

I thought this movie was getting good reviews. So I rechecked. Turns out I was confusing Mads Mikkelsen in Arctic with Mads Mikkelsen in Polar.

Absurd is the right word for it.

I felt like I was watching something on a sunbrite TV at times especially the first act of the movie: Outdoor TV | WeatherProof Outside Televisions | SunBriteTV

Sunbrite TV's have a pretty unique look to the picture that I think works fine for pretty much everything except cinema. Why they decided to edit the movie to look like this (really bright; colors popping) I think was just part of the absurdity.

Overall, the film worked on certain levels but had a weirdness to it I didn't quite like but other scenes that had a funny absurdity to it that kept me watching. I don't know whether to give it a thumbs up or thumbs down.

It was so over the top and crazy yet had a certain cleverness to it as well. It kind of seems like a mashup of Kill Bill/Old Boy to an extent in this regard.

Just saw the film! Wasn’t the worst, but it took quite awhile for things to get interesting. The highlights were Mads, the school scene, Duncan’s escape, and when he mowed down dozens of people with the guns.
