Mafia III has been officially announced! The game is being developed by Hangar 13. On Twitter:

See the worldwide reveal of the #Mafia3 announcement trailer on 8/5/15 here: https://www.youtube.com/MafiaGame

I'm so excited right now! Mafia 2 is one of my favorite games of all time so can't wait to play this. I just hope that this won't be set too close to present time.

I'm so excited but this doesn't look like a direct sequel Mafia2 end up on a cliffhanger i need to know the fate of Joe and Vito

I liked Mafia II, but I just hope this leans more toward a GTA type open world. I wasn't a fan of the fact f having to do a mission select in order to be able to travel around the city.

The ending was no cliffhanger.
Joe got killed and Vito just had to accept it. Joe wasn't part of the deal. I hope Vito will make a little appearance in Mafia 3 like Tommy did in Mafia 2. If not then someone could at least mention him.

Finally official news and a reveal coming in like two weeks or so!

Great news. Loved the last one and my girlfriend is crazy for all things mafia so this is a must buy in our house.

Reveal trailer:

It’s 1968 and the rules have changed. After years in Vietnam, Lincoln Clay knows this truth: Family isn’t who you’re born with, it’s who you die for. Watch the Mafia III worldwide reveal trailer now!
There is some gameplay in this video:

This looks really good. I like that the game is set in the 60s and the graphics are looking great. Also we can see a familiar face in the game as a side character. Vito is back! :)

Before I even look it up, its the guy who plays Diggle on Arrow who is Clay. That's my prediction/guess

Cool they set it in New Orleans. Most mob things are about LA, Chicago, or NY. New Orleans is a fun new location. Also cool that theyre focusing on the "black mob"

Read some stuff on reddit this morning that says

Vito is in the game as a side character that helps you out. Also, the game never shows Joe die - it's only alluded to, so if they want, the devs can bring him back

I don't have the links, but they were talking about it being confirmed.

You can see Vito in the reveal trailer.
Don't expect Joe to to be back. Yes in theory he could be back but it would ruin the ending of Mafia 2.

**** this looks cool. Love the choice of setting.

I loved Mafia 2 so I will be getting this as long as the reviews aren't horrible.

IGN has 12 minutes of Gameplay.

Gotta say, it looks and sounds good, but there just seems to be something off. I'm not saying it needs to be, nor am I expecting, a GTA clone, but this looks a little too action heavy and fast. But hopefully it plays smooth.

One Way Road Story Trailer:

Also some gameplay:

This looks really good. I liked the trailer but I'm not sure about the gameplay video. Driving still looks too arcade. I played Mafia 2 few days ago and driving in that was perfect. Cars were heavy and it felt realistic.

Yeah, I'm a little iffy on how the gameplay looks. Hopefully it feels smooth, but the action seems too out there. It looks like GTA but gameplay looks like Saint's Row, which doesn't work for me.

Also, the main character keeps making me thinking of the first Terminator movie.

I’ve always felt that the action/shooting was the worst part of the GTA franchise. This doesn’t look as good as say, Uncarted 4 (no surprise), but the action definitely looks like a major improvement over GTA. Looks like they’re going for the best of both worlds in terms of action-adventure and GTA-style open world. Count me in.

I like the mention of 60s music being prominent on the car radios, in bars, etc.

Yea thats ridiculously awesome.

IDK, im really digging what im seeing and this is coming from someone who doesnt like "mob" movies or games. Not a big fan of the Godfather, don't like the Sopranos, didnt like the other Mafia games. Maybe its the idea of playing as this particular character taking down the Italian mob that just seems unique. I mean I rather this dude just be some Frank Castle clone whose killing all the mob, but hey Ill take what I can get.

Deff got my eye on this.

So in a game called Mafia III we play a character who could never even be a made man in the mob?

"Mafia" doesn't just refer to the Italian mob, it can mean any organized crime group. Russian mafia, Japanese Mafia, so and so forth.

Actually Mafia by definition is La Cozanostra, the Italian Mob, the Russian Version isn't called the mafia, is called the Bratva, the Japanese version is the Yakuza. All these others are just compared to the Mafia, they aren't really Mafia.

Mafia is just the brand of the game series. Stop nitpicking dude.

Isn't he taking out the mafia? Still involves the Italian mob/mafia.
