Man Buys Ferrari... So He Can Possibly Buy Another Ferrari

Wait, not only do you have to be filthy rich just to buy a Ferrari, but the company has to "approve" you and deem you worthy of the purchase???

yup because they build so few of these cars they want to make sure they go to people who have a good history with the brand. This only applies to new cars if a person sells one of theirs Ferrari can't do anything.

So it's like that Abercrombie & Fitch guy... just with cars.

Doesn't matter, it's still cooler to drive around in a vintage Ferrari.

That makes sense. There are few of these cars, so they want people who who have a genuine love for these cars (and aren't wreckless with them) to have their cars.

Not at all. It's not like anybody is being excluded due to discriminatory reasons. It's more for what Dave McFly said.

No, they're not racist. They just have an image they want to keep up and like someone earlier said, they aren't mass produced cars so they want to know who is driving in these cars and keep up that image.

I don't see it as a bad thing at all.

These cars are like, works of art. You don't want to have just anyone riding around with them.

Abercrombie & Fitch wasn't a racist issue... they just wanted to maintain their image by marketing their clothes only to certain kinds of people.

Ferrari on the other hand actually says you can't buy it.

That's a whole other level of elitism. Guess it's a good thing I've never had a desire for a Ferrari.

1.) Put on a facade and buy a Ferrari
2.) Engage in IRL trolling in your Ferrari
3.) Shame Ferrari into demanding you relinquish the car
4.) Say no; give them your demands.
5.) ????
6.) Profit: you are now filthy rich and Ferrari has salvaged its reputation.

I'm not the man.

It's not elitism, though. Once again, Ferrari's practices isn't based on discrimination by race, sexuality, gender, or size. They prefer to give their rarer cars to collectors of their cars.

Also, this is only the case for their rarer cars; the cars in which they don't have many of. It's not about how much money, nor how you look. It's purely based off how much of a love you have for cars, and for Ferrari. Anyone can get a more mass produced Ferrari car if you want to, but in order to get the rarer cars you have to be approved by Ferrari. In order to be approved, you have to meet with a Ferrari manager with a "resume" which consist of the history of cars you owned.

But if I give them the money for their product, why should it matter what my love of cars is?

If it's to maintain some sort of image, then yes, it is a level of elitism.

I honestly don't care what they do, they can do what they want, I'm not even saying they're wrong, I'm not in the market for a Ferrari nor will I ever be. But it certainly is a level of elitism to only want people of a certain type to have your product.

Basically they don't want no busters driving their merchandise.

Fair enough. It's elitism based on if you're a car collector and a fan of their brand.

Hmmm, surprised to see them OK the use of a Ferrari being owned and driven by a Miami police detective in Bad Boys 2.

It's elitism, just not one based on the normal "isms" we're all so fond of. Basically they want only fanboys to own their cars. If that's not a definition of elitism, what is?

My boss had a Ferrari once. He didn't like it. Traded it in for a Lamborghini.

I admit I was thinking more like the obvious uses of discrimination when thinking about elitism.

I understand the practicality of what Ferrari is doing. But at the end of the day, it is still elitism at it's core. You shouldn't have to buy a Ferrari in order to be in contention for another one down the road. Take the money, enjoy the profit being made, and have a good day. Ferrari is still a business.

This is off-topic, but it really is a shame. I live in a huge Filipino area and when my friends talk about going on vacation in the PI, they mention about how rich they seem to be when they get there because of the monetary gap. This is why I applaud Manny Pacquaio on pretty much putting his boxing career on the back burner to try to help the country from the political side.
