Joe Kittinger wore a pressurised suit. On one of his jumps his right glove didnt seal and his hand swelled to double its natural size! In another jump there was a malfunction that sent him into a spin which created 22 Gs of force on his extremities. He still holds the record for that also. He blacked out and his automatic chute saved his life.

Yeah, this last jump didn't break the record it is 19 miles....but his next one which will be 25 miles will be the record.
