NBC has a new pilot on the way from Robert Zemeckis and Jeff Rake based on the disappearance and mysterious return of a plane, according to Deadline. The pilot, entitled Manifest, would explore what would happen if a missing plane suddenly returned to civilization after five years. NBC has given the show from Warner Bros. TV a put pilot commitment. The premise is reportedly that a plane disappears but returns five years later after no trace of the wreckage was found. No time has passed for the people on the plane, though it has for everyone they left behind. It will explore the mystery of the disappearance, as well as the personal lives of the survivors and their families.

Manifest is written and executive produced by Rake. Zemeckis will executive produce for his Compari Entertainment with Jack Rapke. Jackie Levine from Compari will co-executive produce. Rake is known for writing/executive producing The Mysteries of Laura as well as co-creating The $treet and Miss Match as well as working on The Tomorrow People.

It sounds like the same basic premise of A&E's The Returned and ABC's Resurrection.

NBC Orders 'Lost Meets Resurrection' Drama Pilot Manifest

ABC may not be in any rush to revive Lost, but NBC is more than ready to go back!-(ish).

The Peacock network has placed a pilot order for Manifest, a character-driven, high-concept mystery thriller that, on the surface, reads like a cross between Lost and another ABC supernatural drama, Resurrection.

From Mysteries of Laura creator Jeff Rake, the hour-long project’s logline is as follows: “A plane disappears from radar and returns years later after being untraceable and presumed lost at sea. No time has passed for those on the plane, but for their loved ones at home, many years have gone by. The [potential] series follows their personal lives as well as the larger mystery and purpose that is their destiny.”

David Frankel To Direct

Little disappointing, as I thought it would be Zemeckis, but if he had a say in this hire, then I'll live.

‘Manifest’: Josh Dallas & Melissa Roxburgh Cast As the Leads Of NBC Pilot
Roxburgh will play Michaela Stone. Wracked with guilt over a tragic accident, Michaela anguishes about whether she’s fit to be a police officer and fiancée. When she mysteriously returns years later after being missing, she finds her life with a strange new purpose.

Dallas will play Ben Stone. The quintessential type-A father and intelligence analyst, Ben struggles against what he can’t control — whether it’s his son’s rare pediatric cancer or the mysterious voice that’s now inside his head.

NBC Picks Up Drama ‘Manifest’ To Series

Given the strong emotional reaction everyone at NBC had to Manifest, some had been wondering what was taking so long for the pilot to be picked up to series. The missing plane mystery thriller drama comes from an outside studio, Warner Bros. TV, and as we noted yesterday, along with the buzzy pilot, the studio also had bubble sophomore drama series Blindspot at the network, making for some tricky deal-making.

It looks like every post Lost series (FlashForward,The Event,Invasion,The Returned)that failed all rolled into one.

Just noticed this premiered last week, has anyone watched it yet, worth watching ?

Saw ep01. I thought it was an ok introduction.
Could not tell you if worth watching yet but I will at least watch 3 to 5 ep before casting my opinion.
I never watched any show (but Lost) with resurrected or returned people from whatever place, so it is kind of new to me.
Oh and Prince Charming from Once Upon a Time is one of the leads, I liked him in this show so it's cool to see him in this one.

Edit : saw ep02. So far so good, more mystery clues.

This kind of show with a god force pushing to right a few small wrongs in New York can fall apart quickly with the conspiracy. So far so good. Especially the FBI Assistant
Director who took the job to protect people's rights and not to use a gun to force compliance. I know strange when the god force is forcing compliance.

They missed on the reaction of outsiders. The press just backed off after a day and we are left with a religious fanatic developing a new faith, or grafting new facts onto her faith in the days after the return of the missing plane

Is this going with a religions experience theme ? Given the location of them flying back from Jamaica to NYC, this screamed Bermuda triangle to me. They could be mixing it up with supernatural, scientific and religious themes.

I hope that the producer saw this coming and, provided closure for the series.

Not surprised by the cancellation. It lasted longer than these types of shows usually go for on NBC. I hope it gets picked up for closure. Always did liked the "from another dimension" theory that was floating around. I came to find all the characters except Jared, Vance and Olive annoying af especially Ben.

Lol hot mess, hope they pick it up though. NBC was stupid to cancel it after it was already doing extremely well before they made their decision.

Shocked NBC didn't move this to Peacock first. :o
