Manning Convicted of Biggest Breach of US Classified Data in US History

Yeah, this doesn't really sound like something Obama would be for rather something he's been instructed to do.

*hint* You pretty much can't trust whatever Obama says he's for.

I used to be a big Obama fan, back before his first term.

It's pretty obvious to me now that he's always been full of it.

At this point I pretty much just think the whole republican vs democrat thing is nothing more than theatre. You may have minor differences in terms of social policies, but the REALLY important stuff, like foreign wars, spying, etc, they're on the same page.

Which, I'm pretty sure is more due to some kind of - I know I will sound like a raving lunatic and paranoid freak - "elder council." And I blame that "elder council" rather than Obama. I just can't see a guy who could be Manning's father (and did, or at least I hope, what most young adults and teens would do) and he seemed like hippie back in the day (from the posters of when he was young at least, so I'm pretty sure he did respect 'Deep Throat') as going in this direction. However, I can see him being afraid of going against this "elder council," being nervous about starting a conflict with them and did what they told him to do for fear of escalation within the house.

As you said, when they become President - it pretty much merges, but they weren't merged before. So, as said, it seems like something Obama personally wouldn't be for - but something he'd do for fear of starting a conflict within the house. So, it seems like the "elder council" - I won't say illuminati because that's too out there - but a council that has always been in and around the White House for a number of years now (possibly back to JFK).

Elder council? What?

Obama has been pretty consistent, since becoming president. Though again, given what Manning did to him (essentially made fools of his entire administration), I'm not surprised Obama hasn't lifted a finger to help him.

Elder Council is basically all I know to call them. And I don't mean it in the whacky way that could sound. Basically Presidents come and go. But there are older members within the white house that have staid around. This would give them more of a pull than somebody who is just in office for a number of terms. "Elder Council" is just what I call them - it's not really a crazy term, as I said I don't believe in the illuminati and etc. - but members of government who have been in term for longer than the President/s. See? It's not 'crazy' - it's just the fastest way to identify them: people in office longer than the president/s.

ADDING: Staid around (still there), plus a lot of times generational as well. People who were probably there when Obama was just a college student getting high.

There's lots of huge corporations that have contracts with the government and spend ridiculous amounts of money to lobby the government to get what they want.

Like Lockheed Martin, who spend millions lobbying the government each year, and have received 36 billion in government contracts just in 2008.

War is big business.

It's all about perpetuating war, guys. Orwell's dystopian nightmare came true.

Yeah, I think you guys need to look at this from the perspective of the Obama administration.

You have this guy in army intelligence, essentially giving away every single confidential diplomatic cable, and military report to a group which is openly hostile to the United States government (at least from an editorial POV). This is sensitive information which made Obama and his cohorts look like fools.

They can't just let that stand, because he exposed a handful of controversial incidents in Iraq. Someone has to go to jail.

You don't need a shadowy cabal, or the military industrial complex for this one.

If they really wanted to get this guy, they would have convicted him of treason.

It's about suppressing information that can better inform the public as to the actual cost of war.

"If the US goes in and attacks another country without a UN mandate and without clear evidence that can be presented, then there are questions in terms of whether international law supports it, [and] do we have the coalition to make it work?” said Obama.

Obama’s national security adviser Susan Rice said via Twitter, “What is Bashar al Assad hiding? The world is demanding an independent investigation of Wednesday’s apparent CW attack. Immediately.”

"If we, in concert with our allies, do not respond to Assad's murderous uses of weapons of mass destruction, malevolent countries and bad actors around the world will see a green light where one was never intended," Rep. Eliot Engel

"And, we can do this with no boots on the ground, from stand-off distances," he added in the letter. "I know that your Administration is wrestling with these very complex issues, but I believe that we, as Americans, have a moral obligation to step in without delay and stop the slaughter." Rep. Eliot Engel

Where have we heard this story before??

The only difference now is that its the democrats.

Yep, pretty much what's going on  It is not just war coorporations that dictate the policies of the government though. There are also big media owners, big pharmas, rich bankers etc

Kinda off topic but interesting. Hadn't checked this before.

http://truththeory.com/2013/08/09/wesley-clark-us-4-star-general-us-will-attack-7-countries-in-5-years/

WESLEY CLARK ( US 4 STAR GENERAL ) US WILL ATTACK 7 COUNTRIES IN 5 YEARS

He openly says that there was a policy coup . ( Donald Rumsfeld , Paul Wolfowitz , Dick Cheney ) – Project for a New American Century .

He stated that they are going to destroy the governments of 7 countries in 5 years.

There actually has been more the 7 countries, when Military coups have failed then then there have been military intervention.

Yup, neo-cons have our ”democracy” on lock.

Any alternative at this point is a complete illusion. And they're not trying to hide this (”change”, lol). In fact they're making it obvious intentionally.

I have to wonder why.

And in my mind had Romney won it could have been even worse. He was far more volatile IMO than reelecting Obama was. I shudder to think of what McCain/Palin would've been like.

Obama I suspect had the right intentions but the moment you step into the White House, that's the instant those intentions go out the door and you become just another President to be derided for lying to your public.
