Said to be coming this Fall.

It sounds like Nintendo Switch owners can look forward to a rather quirky crossover RPG later this year as Kotaku has confirmed that Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle not only exists but is due for a release in either August or September of this year. This likely means we can expect a loaded reveal during Nintendo's E3 presentation with this game as one of its headliners.

Kotaku was provided with a collection of art assets, which they were requested not to share. They were able to clean three major details regarding the game from said assets which are a turn-based combat system, two-player local co-op, and a humorous tone to its narrative. In addition, there will be eight playable characters, Mario, Luigi, Yoshii, Peach and four Rabbids disguised as the Nintendo quartet. This sounds an awful lot like previous Mario RPGs, and considering the oddball nature of the Rabbids, the crossover makes more sense than at first glance.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is being developed by Ubisoft using the company's Snowdrop engine, which was used to power Tom Clancy's The Division and South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Expect more details on Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle during E3 2017.

Didn't the Rabbids popularity die after those awful party games for the Wii?

It's a Rabbid, but Peach.

Update:
The full image for the now officially titled 'Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle' has been revealed, thanks to a source at Ubisoft and WWG:

Original:
It appears as though an image from the rumored Rabbid x Mario crossover game, allegedly titled Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, has leaked and it brings a mix of fear and hope for the game.
Whatever you imagined the crossover game from Nintendo and Ubisoft would be, you might not have expected this. Regardless, there isn't much else to expect from a Rabbid dressed as Princess Peach - their eyes were creepy to begin with.
The game, which has been rumored to be an RPG set to release sometime in August or September, is said to feature a turn-based combat system, two-player local co-op, and a humorous tone to its narrative (which is pretty much shown off in the image).
Whatever your feelings are on the image, whether it's real or fake, don't judge the game by the art - we haven't seen gameplay yet or official details.
Twitter user Stonepa11 originally Tweeted the image, where it ended up on NeoGaf:

Rumor: More details on Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
Published 1 day ago. 40 comments.

Development history, character-unique skills, and more.

Rumor-Mario-Rabbids_05-29-17.jpg

More details on Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle have leaked via Comicbook.com, who first leaked the still unannounced Switch RPG’s key art last week.

Here’s everything the site knows, according to its sources:
History

 • Development began three years ago (2014). Ubisoft approached Nintendo with the proposal using the standard pitching process for a game to be greenlit at Nintendo.
 • Multiple Ubisoft representatives have claimed that to see prototypes of a Wii U version of the game at various points in development, suggesting it was once planned for Wii U.
 • While the game is being made by both Ubisoft Paris and Ubisoft Milan, the latter is handling the core creative direction.
Development

 • Nintendo has closely overseen the project, and their approval is required for anything concerning the use of their characters, but most of Ubisoft’s ideas have been met with little resistance.
 • In an early prototype, there was a boss battle against a Donkey Kong-themed rabbid, which has access to a pile of bananas it can use to replenish its health. Players need to cut off its banana supply to prevent it from replenishing its health before they can deal any real damage. The boss will dab periodically if it properly lands an attack. Once it is defeated, the Princess Peach-themed rabbid in the player’s party pulls out a smartphone and takes a selfie with the boss before it collapses.
Game Details

 • Each of the game’s eight playable characters has an individual skill tree through which they can develop their own special abilities. Each character starts with a base skill that they an later improve, and can also learn new skills.
 • Mario has a passive ability which enables him to automatically fire at an enemy if they enter his field of vision during the enemy’s turn.
 • Princess Peach has the powerful ability to inflate enemies using a foot pump until they explode.
 • Some skills are common across multiple characters.
 • The campaign is expected to be 20 hours or so long.
 • Sources recall indications that an online mode was being tested several months back, although this mode was inaccessible in said test builds. The full game will at least offer two-player local co-op. An additional “Arena” mode was also spotted in the test user interface, promising local co-op action.
Amiibo

 • Amiibo support is planned. There is an apparent “Amiibo Machine” feature, but its functionality is not yet clear.
 • Multiple sources claim Ubisoft has been producing prototype figurines of some of the game’s characters.
Reveal and Release

 • Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was originally intended to be unveiled in January during Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017, but was pushed back to receive further polish and will instead be revealed at E3 2017.
 • The release date is currently scheduld for August, though it may slip into September depending on how the final months of development progress.

Yeah, we knew it was going to happen but it's official! The Mario/Rabbids cross-over is real! The popular Ubisoft property will cross-over with the most iconic characters in gaming with Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.
The game has been in development for three years and it's a tactical adventure for Nintendo Switch. The Rabbids were teleported into the Mushroom Kingdom and it made things a bit "chaotic" but Mario is keen to make things right!
The game will be similar to X-Com and will have tactical turn-based movement which allows you to take cover, flank, and use strategic moves to take down enemies. Mario + Rabbids feature a number of unique mechanics like pipes you can move through to flank enemies, team based moves, and character based weapons. It should be noted that this isn't Mario versus Rabbids, the two universes will team up to take on the more chaotic Rabbids who need to be stopped!
The title can be played in solo OR co-op and it'll be out exclusively on Nintendo Switch on August 29th. If you pre-order, you'll gain access to 8 new unique weapons.

Despite quite a few rumors and leaks, many were still surprised about the reveal of Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. Not only does it bring the denizens of the Mushroom Kingdom together with the former raving Rayman adversaries, but it’s wrapped in a visually striking strategy RPG package. Fans and journalists noticed quite a few similarities between this new title and the classic SRPG series XCOM, but Venture Beat managed to get a comment from an XCOM developer at Firaxis, Jake Solomon. Not only was he surprised to see elements of the series he himself helps shape, he also wants to introduce it to his children.
There are few times in my career that I’ve been as surprised as when I was watching that presentation. Just like everyone else, my jaw dropped a little bit when I heard the phrase, ‘As you see, Luigi has taken half-cover.’ What world am I in right now? I couldn’t believe it. But I realized that this is finally how I can introduce XCOM to my daughters. I can finally play something like XCOM with my daughters, introduce the basic concepts. Then, when they’re old enough, maybe we can move on to XCOM together. That was really cool to see.

Don't get close to Rabbid Kong. Just don't...

The gameplay looks fun enough, but I don't really care for the white Minions so it's a hard pass.

I prefer to think of Minions as Yellow Rabbids. The Rabbids have seniority after all.

masn I should have put this up last night but I was tired from over time at work .so here it is .

Here’s an overview of the character, via Ubisoft:

Discover and unleash Mario’s power in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. As a mid-to-close range fighter with excellent mobility, Mario is the perfect hero to lead your team in combat. Use his M-Power technique to power-up your allies and blast foes when they move using Mario’s Hero Sight. With Mario by your side, no challenge is too great!

The most ingenuous of the Rabbid heroes.

The second character spotlight trailer for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle introduces Rabbid Luigi.

Here’s an overview of the character, via Ubisoft:
Rabbid Luigi is the most ingenuous of the Rabbid heroes. Easily scared, he would always avoid conflict given the choice. Despite this, he has very strong powers, even if he doesn’t really understand how to use them! He might not even seem very menacing at first, but his great defensive and elemental skills make him the wizard every team needs.
If you missed it, the first trailer introduced Mario.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle - Easy Allies Review

Blending strategy elements from popular contemporaries with the sarcastic humor of the Rabbids series and the charm of the Mario universe, Kingdom Battle is the result of a beautiful oddball marriage.

Easy Allies

I am really enjoying the game. The humor is great, and some stuff that I just can't believe that Nintendo allowed in.

I hope there is a sequel with more characters. I want Rabbid Toad.

Oh, Ubisoft...

Still loving this game, though I can't wait to unlock more characters.
