From IESB.net:
Mark Wahlberg Talks Aquaman!Written by Robert SanchezSunday, 13 August 2006
Mark Wahlbergs upcoming film, Invincible, is a truly inspirational story of a down and out Philly boy who does good. While attending the press day for the promotional tour of Invincible, we sat down with Wahlberg for a few words. The first question on my mind was regarding Aquaman.
With the huge success of Wahlbergs HBO series Entourage, where he serves as executive producer, rumors have been flying around for a real feature film Aquaman. On the show, hot Hollywood actor Vincent Chase is set to portray Aquaman in a James Cameron directed big screen version of the superhero. Subsequently, with the Aquaman spoof on the hit show, there has been a lot talk of an actual feature film.
So today when we had the chance speak directly to Wahlberg regarding the rumors, we took it. The IESB asked Wahlberg if there was any truth to these rumors and if there was a possibility of seeing him don the classic green and orange costume, to which he responded, no, I dont think so.
Although, he does acknowledge there has been talk from multiple sources he says he would be more interested in producing such a project rather than star in it. So who would be his first choice to star as the underwater superhero? Why Adrian Grenier of course who portrays Vincent Chase in Entourage who is portraying the Aquaman in the fictional feature film of the storyline. Confused? He isn't, he says Adrian is already Aquaman for him and he would be his choice.
So where do we stand? Its all talk right now, but we may see something in the future, but Wahlberg will not be starring perhaps behind the camera instead and his first choice, well his only choice actually, would be Vince, Adrian Grenier, the star of Entourage. For those of you who need a bit of background on Aquaman, here you go!
Aquaman is a DC Comics superhero. Created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger, he first appeared in More Fun Comics #73 (November 1941).
An undersea hero from the mythical kingdom of Atlantis, Aquaman is Arthur Curry, the son of a human lighthouse keeper and an outcast woman from Atlantis. In the most well-known version of his origin, Arthur Curry grows up slowly learning about his powers and origins and vows to defend the oceans and their inhabitants as Aquaman, becoming the ruler of Atlantis and the undersea world.
Aquaman possesses the abilities to breathe underwater, communicate with and mentally control all forms of sea life and swim at fast speeds. He also possesses superhuman levels of strength, speed, endurance and durability, all by-products of his body being adapted to survive unprotected in the tremendous pressures of the ocean depths.
Although other Atlanteans possess similar adaptations, Aquaman is super-Atlantean as well as super-human, and as such he has greater physical capabilities than does a typical Atlantean. - Wikipedia
