With the Captain America movie being the last step before The Avengers in 2012, I would think they'd probably need to include some type of a teaser trailer/preview after the movie to get people hyped up.

Are you kidding? The movie's been in the process of being marketed since May 2008.

I think that the word "Avenger" was possibly sneaked into Iron Man 2 a few times, like those ads for the snack bar that pass by quicker than the eye can see.

The comic fans know what Avenger means, but what about the general audience?

i don't think marketing a movie like The Avengers is gonna be that hard really

i think what he really means is, what can the after scene of captain A be? cos the end of ironman2 has thor, and maybe at the end of thor, something about cap? .. i dunno.

Aftercredits for Cap will be S.H.I.E.L.D finding him in the ice, surely?

I agree. S.H.I.E.L.D. will definitely find Cap in the ice after the credits. Maybe even throw in Tony.

What if the after credits scene for Thor has something to do with Cap? That could be interesting. They could go present day discovering Cap in ice or be different and have a 1940's scene.

All you need is a teaser add:

*CAPTAIN AMERICA*
*IRON MAN*
*THOR*
*THE INCREDIBLE HULK*

*THE AVENGERS*

5-4-12 (or whatever date...I just remember it's the first friday of may.)

Ever since the Samuel L. Jackson cameo in the first "Iron Man", people have been finding out about the Avengers. All these movies are pretty much the ad campaign.

The marketing for this film will be huge. They'll try to market it as the biggest film ever & if Cap & Thor are good movies & have good BO numbers, then it very well could happen.

All I can say is, since when was Cap the first Avenger? He really wasn't the first member he joined in issue 4. Unless they mean WW2 Avenger.

They should do the tv spots with the characters' names being said by a VO guy rather than the actors' names.

"ROGERS"
"Everybody stay behind me!"

"STARK"
"Didn't I see you in Gladiator?"

"THOR"
"Loki, we would have words with thee."

"and BANNER"
"BRAAAAGGHHGHAHRRGH"

"AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!"

DA AVENGAS.
MAY 6

It would be cool to see all 4 (I think Norton will end up in it; and for now I'm assuming just the main four) on the cover of a magazine like GQ or Entertainment or Rolling Stone. That would do a lot for the film.

I really don't think much marketing is going to be required for Avengers, though I am sure there will be a huge marketing blitz come March of 2012. The fact is, IM and IM2 were very successful, Hulk was a modest hit and is instantly recognizeable and I am sure that Thor is going to be a huge movie. The GA knows of Thor, I heard people talking about him during the IM2 post-credits scene, though they were like "who's going to play him? Dolph Lundgren?"

Cap is the real lynchpin here, it is the last opportunity before Avengers to put these characters in position to interact with each other. The movie has to deliver and I think it will. The last scene of Cap needs to foreshadow the Avengers and I think that is why Whedon is touching up the Cap script. He wants to make sure that these movies are in lock-step with each other.
