Matt Damon: "bond Is Dated"

What Bond movies has he been watching?

Bourne is a Bond rip off. Point blank.

Bond IS dated. But that doesn't mean he isn't an engaging character.

More intresting is what director Paul Greengrass sayeth; "reengrass said: "The Bourne franchise is not about wearing Prada suits and looking at women coming out of the sea with bikinis on. It's about essence and truth, not frippery and surface."

Bollocks is it. It's no more or less about style than the Bond movies. It's just the style of Borne is gritty 'realism'.

CR is pretty similar to bourne though, funny really.

Casino Royale is better than any of the Bourne films.

And at least I can actually watch a simple dialogue sequence in the latter without feeling the urge to vomit.

Did you guys even read the article? It's not like Damon said that Bourne was better.

Bond is dated, yet is still better than Bourne.

The Bourne movies are boring pieces of **** to me really. I'd watch all Bond movies over the Bourne ones.

The only good bourne out of the trilogy was the first one. Great film. but in my opinion doesnt top Casino Royale. Doesnt even come close. The last 2 bourne films were boring.

No one ever reads stuff like this. They hear "Damon Dissed Bond" and all of a sudden the "auto-hate>>>Matt Damon" switch gets turned on. Nevermind the actual article, or what the man actually said.

I read the article, and Damon was condescending to the character of Bond. Do I hate Damon? No. Do I hate Bourne? No. Do I idolize Bond? No. Can I read the insults to the character of Bond compared to character of Bourne? Yes.

It wasn't aimed at you, sir.

I know, but you made a generalization that no one read the article.

Damon is absolutely right about everything he says about Bond.... but those are the very reasons we LOVE James Bond, that's the whole appeal right there. He talks about it as if it were a bad thing, but these are the things that have kept people coming back for over 40 years now.

I like Bourne and all, but I don't think it could survive as it is now for even another 10 years, let alone 40.

Of course he's going to be biased towards Bourne - that's only natural.

And heaven forbid that he 'big's' Bourne up just as his new film comes out....................

But as Sand77 says - maybe he might want to watch 'the competition' and view CR - it may just provide a wake up call.

Greengrass forgets that Jason Bourne is just as much a fantasy as Bond, execpt that Bourne is a paranoid fantasy. As a character, I would also say that Bourne is much more unbelievable, not as complete and certainly not as realistic.
