Matt Reeves To Helm ‘Planet Of The Apes 3′
By MIKE FLEMING JR

EXCLUSIVE: Right after 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment began screening his cut of Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, Matt Reeves has signed on to direct the third installment of the franchise. This time, he will write the script with Mark Bomback, who scripted the sequel to Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, which grossed $482 million worldwide in 2011. The directing deal is done and the writer deals are being worked out right now. It is likely that Reeves will go right into the third film, a priority for the studio.

The sequel is set to debut July 11, 2014, and it stars Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell, with Andy Serkis reprising his role as Caesar, the intelligent ape that led the breakout from a lab before much of the human race was wiped out at the close of the first film. The survivors square off against Caesar’s growing army in the second film. The pic is based on the Pierre Boulle novel, and was first turned into a film that starred Charlton Heston in 1968.

Peter Chernin is producing the series for Chernin Entertainment. Reeves, who helmed Cloverfield and the remake Let Me In, is repped by CAA, Howard Klein at 3 Arts and attorney Karl Austen.
Obviously that won't be the title, but we can edit that when we get an official one.

Fox must be impressed with what he brought to the table.

Got tickets for the movie at 7 on Friday get off work at 5 will go straight down there get there around 6 and eat has the place I am going to has food. Cant want to go see this. Been a great year for movies so far with Logan, WW, Spider-Man HC and now this movie should be great and still have star wars in December. Now that it is release week the amount of reviews on RT should start to pick up.

Seeing it Saturday as a double feature with Spider-Man (for the 3rd time).

Gonna try to get my ticket for Saturday, if not Sunday morning then.

Seeing it this Friday (2D). A slight regret that I didn't book us for tomorrow!

I am doing the triple feature on Wednesday. Going to be cool to see Rise and Dawn on the big screen again.

Yeah, doing the triple feature too. Although I already rewatched Rise before they announced the event, so I might score a nap or something then lol.

I'm seeing it when it opens here on the freakin' 27th. :cmad:

My theater isn't offering the triple feature, but I re-watched both Rise and Dawn recently and read Firestorm and Revelations so I'm good.

Is it one right after the other? Maybe a small break in between? That would be hard to do for old people (me). :waa: Even in the nice lounge seats at our local theater. However, I would love to see Dawn on the big screen. Watched them both on Bluray last weekend.

It's back to back with intermissions, yeah. I did the same thing with TDKT when Rises came out.

Also, our first Rotten Top Critic for those who are counting.

I wasn't going to be a dick about it, but that guy says this in his review:

You can’t fault the film technically — apart from Caesar’s smooth, youngish voice, which lacks distinction and doesn’t fit with his hoary exterior voice. .

What?

It is now certified fresh on RT. For some reason they still haven't added Top Critics Peter Travers, Richard Roeper, and Michael Phillips positive reviews.

The critics submit the reviews themselves so they just haven't gotten around to it.

RT also has a system where it sweeps and collects for reviews online.

Saw that the movie has now gotten certifeld fresh with 72 fresh and 6 negative so far for a 92% and with a 8.2 average.

Do you know of any other reviews good or bad top critic or not that have not been added yet?

No, just these 3 guys are the only top critics that I could find that haven't been posted yet on RT right now. I guess the other ones haven't written their reviews yet.

I'm really excited about this flick. The Apes movies are the ones that have taken me by surprise the most. I honestly planned to not give a crap about these films, but Andy Serkis and the rest of them just took my breath away. Plus many of the things I've read claim this is the best of the trilogy. That sets the bar super high for me, but I'm afraid that the sequel won't pull in the money it deserves considering audiences really do finally seem to be getting sick of sequels. Hopefully good WOM will give this movie some serious legs.

Going into triple feature now. See you guys on the other side.

Just got my ticket for a showing this Friday. First of these I'll have seen in the cinema after catching up with the first two this spring. Can't wait.
