Mattel's Online Store? Just try to buy something...

Is anybody surprised that Mattel's online "store" is about as useful as a pair of flip-flops at the North Pole? I bought a Giganta figure a couple months ago, which was the only item that was available to buy at that time, and now, as of Saturday, 10/25/08, there is still NOTHING available to buy from the site. Meanwhile, we all keep driving to Target, Wal-Mart, K-mart, etc. to try to buy products that are not on the shelves...of course, Mattel's mantra is always "we don't control what the stores have in stock - you should complain to them, and ask them to order the products you want." Well, as we all know, we have all done that, and the stores say they can't get the stuff. But more to my point - what's Mattel's excuse when it comes to their own website, supposedly designed for collectors? Why can't we order the Movie Masters chase figures, Jokers and Scarecrows, and now the BatPods, or the Infinite Heroes figures we want, or the dozens of other Batman items we can't find at the stores? I mean, who do we complain to now?

Mattel is completely clueless when it comes to action figures, chase figures, exclusives, retail, and collectors. They have the biggest superhero properties around and they completely frack it up. They lost the number one spot for girls toys (Barbie) to Bratz. They screwed up the MOTU line. The only thing they seem able to do properly is the Hot Wheels brand. In 2010 they acquire the WWE license and the wrestling collectors are having a stroke over it. I dont blame them.

Oh, and as far as Mattycollector.com, supposedly they are still working out the bugs and should have the full, final version of the site up and running after the first of the year. This is supposed to also kick off their "big" exclusives like the TNBA 4 pack.
