I honestly cant believe how cheap those prices are tho.

The worst part about this ad isn't that it exists but probably that there are a non-zero number of people that probably don't think it's that bad.

So there's at least 5 people who thought this was a good idea. The three fools in the ad, the owner of the mattress store, and the person holding the camera. Even the last person could have said "Nope, nope, not doing this" and walked away.

I bet that they thought since Family Guy can do it, they can.

I wonder if this business will crash and burn.

What possessed anyone to think this was a good idea?

Next ad they release will be based on Titanic. 'Sink yourself into a comfy mattress' :/

I think that's fake. Doesn't mean it's not in bad taste, though.

Texas mattress shop closes over 'tasteless' 9/11 ad

A Texas mattress shop is to close after facing a backlash for a 9/11-themed advert described as "tasteless".
Miracle Mattress faced strong criticism after its "twin tower sale" offered every mattress sold on the anniversary of the attacks for the price of a smaller twin mattress.
In the clip, staff fall into two towers of mattress, knocking them over.
"We'll never forget," the presenter of the clip says in the now withdrawn advert.
Miracle Mattress owner Mike Bonanno said that "effective immediately, our Miracle Mattress store will be closed indefinitely", in a statement released on Friday.
"We will be silent through the 9/11 Anniversary to avoid any further distractions from a day of recognition and remembrance for the victims and their families."
In a letter published earlier, Mr Bonanno apologised, saying the video had been produced at the company's San Antonio office without permission from management.
"The video is tasteless and an affront to the men and women who lost their lives on 9/11. Furthermore, it disrespects the families who lost their loved ones and continue to struggle with the pain of this tragedy every day of their lives."
Twitter users criticised the company over the video. "This is absolutely sickening," said one. "You deserve to be out of business. End of story," said another.
A total of 2,996 people died on 11 September 2001 when al-Qaeda militants hijacked four planes, crashing two into the World Trade Center's twin towers in New York, a third into the Pentagon and the fourth into a field in Pennsylvania.

in 100 years when most of us are dead I wouldn't be surprised if stuff like that is common place. Cause I'll be dead and incapable of surprise.

i feel bad at laughing at this cringe ad it was so bad you cant get offended lol

So if and it's a big if he's telling the truth and management didn't know 4 morons have just caught a laid of people they're jobs

Closing the store and essentially firing the entire workforce is an over reaction. It was a tasteless commercial. Nothing more. Write up or fire those involved.

Getting a wee bit tired of social media going on vengeance crusades without any consideration for collateral damage or the bigger picture.

I'm not even that offended by that commercial. I'm just surprised that the people behind this marketing didn't even consider for a second that this ad would be controversial and ultimately bite them in the end.

Or maybe this was their intention, but if so, unbelievably moronic on their part.

The social justice warriors on Tumblr don't care about 9/11, they care about finding something to be outraged about. It's a full-time job for them. The thing itself doesn't matter, just as long as there's something.

The morons behind the video should have been fired, not the entire store closed.

Those who allowed the idea, aka those in charge, should be fired. Anyone else losing their jobs is insane.

So I did a little reading, and they make it sound like they are taking the weekend off our of respect because of the ridiculous ad. That makes a lot more sense.

It amazes me that at no time, during the scripting, shooting, editing, and then uploading none of them thought that this might be a really, really bad idea.

The woman in the ad apparently owns, or co-owns the store, so it's kind of hard to fire anyone.

The store is closed indefinitely.

I thought it was in bad taste before then they knocked over the stacked beds followed by the sarcastic "we'll never forget".

WTH?

It's like they wanted to go out of business.

Maybe it's an insurance scam, and they're hoping that someone will burn the store to the ground.

What if this is what they wanted? :shr:

Saw this yesterday morning and laughed my ass off. This looks like it'd be something from a bad Always Sunny episode. That someone approved this is truly mind-blowing.

Outrageous, there is no such thing as a bad Always Sunny episode.
