Thank you so much for the advice!!!!
This is 2 pieces of my Avengers collection.
The Hammer is Mjolnir. I used an empty kleenex box and filled it with plaster of paris. A wooden stake was placed in it and the plaster was allowed to harden and cure...that took 3 weeks. The plaster was then cut with a hacksaw to form the shape of the hammer, alot of sweating was involved. The hammer was then sanded down to make the perfect shape. VanGoh stained glass was used for most of the piece, while a whispy grey was used on the rest. On one side the symbol used in the Avengers and Thor movie was designed into the piece. On the other side the pieces were placed so that the grout would form Norse Runes that spell out a message (the same message on Thor's hammer in the comics). Mjolnir was then grouted with a grey grout. Once the grout dried, silver paint was rubbed into the grout to slightly change the color. Once the silver dried, black metallic paint was used to highlight the design on one side and the Norse runes on the other side. The hammer weighs about 8 pounds.
For Capt. America's shield, I started with a satellite dish and filled it with plaster. I then put laminate on the back. Stained glass was used for the Mosaic. Around the edge of the shield the individual pieces spell out "Captain America the First Avenger" in Morse code. Grey grout was used mixed with metallic silver paint and silver glitter.
Not enough time to finish the Hulk or Iron Man.. sorry, but will have them done by July 15th.
