McDonald's Dollar Menu Goes Bye Bye

Anybody mentioned the Royale with cheese yet?

Here i only remember McDonalds and Burger King, unless we're also counting with Pizza restaurants

Vaguely. I do remember mention of tacos once too though I think it was only regional and clearly didn't last very long.

Remember when McDonalds used to have pizza on their menu?
No, and what is this?

Also never had one, but I gotta admit Wimpy's Burger (UK) always made allot more sense than Popeye's Fried chicken (Us).

lol to BK having to be renamed because the Queen of England took offense to it. I bet she had dirtier nicknames for her husband than "Burger King" :o

In France we only have two franchises, McDo and Quick, so if you want a burger you don't have many choices ( unless you fork 17€ on a restaurant burger ).
We also don't have the equivalent of the dollar menu. The cheapest burger they sold is 1,60€ ( cheeseburger ).
Note : I think French McDo is less bland than US McDo but I could be mistaken.

17 euros for a hamburger?!??! Holy crap, that's expensive!

Is it because burgers are considered an exotic food item? Because I imagine if I lived in France or Italy I'd be eating everything else in sight without even thinking of having a burger, so I guess it wouldn't bother me.

Is beef really that big of an issue in Europe?

I guess if you order a restaurant hamburger in France, they use beef of an actual quality grade that you'd eat even if it wasn't ground up. Whereas you'd be surprised what full-service restaurants in America use for hamburger meat ...

Well thats the thing, France cant just be like "eat this, its meat..." lol apparently the FDA doesn't give two ****s in the US, figure they'd want to get away with it in Europe as well

Or maybe they actually care about their people....that just doesn't register with me

If burgers are to us what duck a la orange is to them.

I'm aware of what they use but choose not to think about it when I do... lately though I've avoided fast food and can't say it's bothered me one bit.

"...and then, at the very top, Filet-O-Fish, for which no price is too high."

Are they saying they'd be willing to pay anything for one of the ****tiest item on the menu? It's like 90% tarter sauce.

No offense but i'm finding it hilarious to see Americans discuss what we eat in Europe. lol

We're just assuming that European meat doesn't have pink rubber mixed into it like we do on this side of the world. Then again, a German woman once told me to stop ordering fricadelle at restaurants, because "you can hide anything you want to in there." :csad:

I know, they use horse meat.

I find it odd that anytime McDonalds is discussed seemingly no one ever eats there, despite there being more McD's restaurants than the next 5 largest fast food chains combined.

So let me be an honest one and say I eat at McDonalds and I love their food. Tastes delicious. Yeah, I only do it once a week or so because of the nutritional aspects, but it's a pleasure to enjoy.
Granted, here in Canada the government has a slightly higher requirement for the food (eg we never had the pink slime "chicken") but overall mostly the same.

As for prices going up, if that increase all went to employees getting paid/treated better then I'd gladly see the prices go up by 50%. That's why I'm okay with Starbucks pricyness, since they take care of their employees properly. But since I have the feeling the extra cash will go into management and executives' pockets, I'm irritated by it.

At least if you eat horse meat in France, you know you're eating horse meat, because that's what you ordered on purpose. There's not as much "round ground surprise" over there.

Don't get me started on Hong Kong and China. :csad:

You may eat beef thats 1% beef...but would you eat Lobster thats......1% lobster?

You must not have seen the recent scandal about horse meat being ground into... just about everything that was labeled beef.

Hong Kong and China though, yeah, you get "meat" in many loosely defined descriptions from what I've read. At least the scraps McDonald's feeds you actually came from an animal (mostly).
