How far are you into it? I might read the 1st one one day.

I'm taking the Nolan "Prestige" approach :hehe: so I guess I'm about halfway through? But I've ran across new elements that I can incorporate into the story so I want to weave those in. The last major sequence I wrote was Mathion's "Jesus in the desert" experience, so I guess the next thing to do is the buildup to the battle.

Clippy, one of the new characters I've created recently is named Pya'tún; he's a former pirate/mercenary who joins Mathion's Degondurín...I can make him a persnickety bastard like yourself if you want. :woot::hehe:

That's fine by me.

And once this character becomes a hit we'll talk spin offs.

Oh so you're a good way into it. Do you find that new things you write affect the continuity as in make you want to go back and change small things in the 1st novel so that there is a better setup for future events?

Good luck with it anyway. It's a big achievement totally finishing even one novel!

I have to resist that :para: and rather let the first novel dictate the continuity of the second. But the benefit is that there's such a long gap between books 1&2 that I can write little interquel novellas, short stories, anthologies, etc., and it's usually those ideas that end up affecting the second novel. Which is still pretty unexpected. But I want to say that the first novel is written and set in stone, so I won't be touching it again for at least a very long time.

And thanks man!! It's a mark I'm glad to have left on the world, and if it's all I leave then that's something to be proud of.

But I'll be damned if it's all I leave :argh::hehe:

i've already tallied over 30 votes for the awards

there is still time to vote yall

Interesting. I can't resist! My early chapters have changed significantly because I want later characters to have been introduced much earlier for eg. Takes chops to accept that it's set in stone. Not being able to is probably why it's going to take me a long time to finish and why I won't finalise my first fully till I've finished the last.

It's a good thing to have left your mark on the world. Next up getting up to a 1 in 10 win ratio for your jousts with Clippy

Her mexican family is coming over later today. They sure love to party with a bunch of tunes I don't understand. Some old guy on a horse with a high pitched voice. They will make me drink the worm. Goddamn.

it's pretty awesome that i've gotten almost 60 ballots so far. lots of close categories still!

I expect there to be a bard named Kidd of the clan in Vicious in that book DS

not enough punctuation and symbols in those names for his book DJ

Sorry Sir Moose... I gotta be that guy. I really think that GOTG is a way over praised, thoroughly mediocre piece of by the numbers movie making with thin protagonists, WAY thin villains, UN-spectacular action, seen it all a million times before lifeless production design, a screenplay that is total tell and don't "show" and contains ( unthinkably!!! ) Karen Gillen's worst performance as an actress to date. Sure, it's character interaction (as thin as the characters are) is breezy, and the dialogue has zingers and comedic payoffs galore.... But in all honesty that's all I can reccomend about it since everything else is so underwhelming, and even then, I kind of feel the the witty banter start to grate after awhile since that's all that seems to be firing on all cylinders...

But if you liked it Maooz, more power to you. 😀 Really. I can see how it as a whole would have worked for others. I don't find it a terrible film but simply a lackluster one to my particular eyes.

The Old Man needs to be taught something. Who's with me? :shr:
