Messageboard Games, Post Count Boosters or Inane Needless Threads?

I post in the word association thread, yes to boost the count, and whilst I can be a lazy poster and slightly anti social, I've gotten involved a lot more recently.

I guess I was fed up of getting to a thread only to say I agree/disagree, as I'm usually a bit late on the uptake. Which is lame. At the end of the day some people just like to "listen" and not jibber on. Is that bad? Do I need to evaluate my thoughts and feelings ALL the time on a message board?

Whilst I'm glad for all the thoughtful posts and debates I've entered, I personally don't come here to socialise, I come on here for news, reading people's opinions who generally have their head screwed on right, to avoid doing work and for the funny pix thread. Is that bad?

Yes.

You can add more than just I agree or I disagree you can provide your opinion, maybe even something personal to get your point accross?

Those are callled lurkers.

If you don't feel like participating, if you just want to lurk that's fine. However, why even create a username if all you want do do is just lurk and occasionally post in the word association thread?

What was the last movie you watched?

What was the last terrible movie you watched? :whatever:

What was the last trailer you watched?!?! :cmad::huh:

Are some of you this unoriginal?

It's like showing up to a basketball court, dressed in your gear and holding a basketball and someone asking if you want to play:

"No thanks, I'm not interested in participating."

Then you sit down on the bench staring and drooling.

What SHH Class Are You?

Seriously? Lol!

See, that thread actually breeds discussion because we debate about which SHH class is the best. Recount the golden days of the hype. Share stories, and anecdotes. Unlike, all those gaming threads.

What SHH Class Are You?

Seriously? Lol!
Which every who's who of SHH has dropped in to vote in the poll, legends, admins, moderators and like Phere say to discuss when you joined and look at your class.

Much better than say a word association thread.

Batman

Superman

Uh....Kryptonite

Seriously, this stimulates conversation?

If people are so bored that they want to do that in a topic let them. Personally though, I find a thread like that useless.

Okay, I'll do word association, I'll give you that one. Its shameless post countage upping on my part. As for worst film, I only posted on there to express my rage by highlighting the worst film for years (Semi-Pro) which I came up with several posts about in its main thread before it petered out.

As for lurking, colour me guilty. Erzengel posted above saying, something along the lines of turning up to a basketball game and refusing to play. What about the audience? Why is it bad to watch rather than construct a 10 page sycophantic thesis on how you agree with everything something says?

Like I said, socialising isn't the main reason I'm on here, distraction from work and new is.

Whislt originally, I didn't post that often, I have gotten more into things recently and liking coming here. I got a username to give me the option to post when and were I choose, not to unleash all kinds of verbally artistic, witty theorems on the meaning of "why." I may want to do that, but at the moment, its just an option.

That and I post at work, which means that my time on here is reduced to glimpses via exposé at best. I don't have the solit blocks of time to do anything other than post smaller stuff.

Who's who? There's an online clique of superior posters? Whilst it may have turned out that way, the first page looks like someone was too lazy to look to the left.

No, its just a blatant post increaser, I want a bigger avatar, and I don't want to earn it.

My point is about turning up to a basketball game dressed to play yet not playing. The same thing with "signing up" to a voluntary messageboard where you do not need to have a username to lurk, you can be a guest and lurk, therefore if you don't want to add anything you don't have to.

Like I said, socialising isn't the main reason I'm on here, distraction from work and new is.
Which a lot of people here do.

If you can spend like 15 minutes posting word associations, I think you can take 15 minutes to write a semi long diatribe. However, each post doesn't have to be an essay.

I guess I'm questioning, why sign up to a messageboard state well, I just like to lurk and not get involved. I mean you stated yourself, you personally found your nitch and are now venturing out into other threads.

Well there's me, I'm pretty awesome and there use to be an clique of superior posters but most have them have traveled to fairer shores. However some of us still post here.

Too lazy? New names? Formerly banned posters? Not everyone is on their first name.

No, its just a blatant post increaser, I want a bigger avatar, and I don't want to earn it.
Which is the basis of this thread.

Why does this remind of Erz everytime he sees a thread he does not like:csad:

Erzengel - I don't know what to take serious in your posts and what not to I'm afraid.
No-one can be that pompous lol.

Is the list of new names and formerly banned posters that large? If so fair do's, and I did say it seemed that way after only the first page.

I agree with the fundamental basis of the thread, under the venir of increasing elitism, you're right, what I don't like is the increasing intonation that most people who choose to post in less demanding threads are worth less or are ******ed somehow. There's often more to 'casual posting' than being lazy, (see my work excuse above).
