Hey guys, I was looking up Cradle of Filth songs on Youtube and it looks like they have their entire new album up. Here'e one of the songs called The 13th Ceaser. You should be able to find the rest of the album from there.

[YT]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/L-dlwN_yEgU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/L-dlwN_yEgU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/YT]

So, what do you guys think of the new stuff? So far I'm really liking it, its a lot better than Thornography. I'll have to get this when I finally buy Cruelty and the Beast.

Wow, I didn't even know Cradle of Filth had a new album coming out. Although I haven't listened to much Cradle of Filth in a long, long time you know? They were one of my favorite bands and I still do like them, it's just I feel their best albums were Cruelty and the Beast, Dusk And Her Embrace, and Midian.

I might have to give it a shot because I'm a sucker for concept albums and the story behind the album sounds interesting.

Yeah, my first Cradle album was Thronography and then I started to get into their older stuff. I own Midian, Damnation and a Day and Thornography. I just started to listen to Cruelty and the Beast. The new album is looking real good though and when I get some money I'll be getting it. I'll have to listen to some of the tracks from Dusk and Her Embrace to see if I'll get that eventually as well.

Dusk and Her Embrace is an amazing album by Cradle of Filth. I have Cruelty And The Beast, Dusk and Her Embrace, Midian, and Damnation and A Day. Most people generally don't care for the band because of Dani Filth's vocals and the misunderstanding of them being "black metal".

But as a whole I really do like the band and wish they would go back to the Cruelty and the Beast type of music. However I'll give their new album a chance when it's released.

I listened to one of the new Cradle of Filth songs and it sounded pretty good. Not sure if I like it enough to buy the new album though, however, once I hear more than one track I'll probably buy it if I like the music.

Once again my metal brothers and sisters of the Hype it's time for a Metal Collection of the night. I also want to do a shameless plug for the social group I created a couple of weeks ago, it's called The Realm of Metal and you can invite other metalheads who are members, you can join, and you can go there to discuss upcoming metal albums, past metal albums, and so forth.

With everyone uncertain and in fear about the economy, music can be a good way for people to escape and this place is for those who want to listen to metal, love metal, and want to discuss it. Feel free to spread the word to those who want to come to a great metal section.

Oh yeah, I wanted to share a funny story of a friend who of mine who I exposed Cradle of Filth to. He's a huge metalhead like me and one night I was telling him about Cradle of Filth, so I put on Cruelty and the Beast on my boombox at the time.

I put on the song Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids, Bathory Aria, and Lustmard and Wargasm. After those three songs heslowly turned his head and looked at me without smiling and said "These songs sound like one giant rape scene."

Haha, I couldn't help but laugh. I knew what he was saying this because of Dani's high pitched and fast singing/screaming. To this very day I laugh at the story because he was so serious and he never listened to them again after that night.

I also like to add Russell Allen of Symphony X, Allen-Lande, Star One, and Ayreon is the best singer in metal. Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, Mikael Akerfeldt, Ronnie James Dio, David Coverdale, Sebastian Bach, Phil Anselmo, and etc are all great singers.

But Russell Allen just has a powerful voice and it's very smooth, melodic, and emotional. He can sing like no other man has been able to and I always said if God were to sing he'd sound like Russell Allen.

Let's see where do I begin? I was possibly thinking about having this thread merged with classic rock. Wheny ou think about it classic rock has inspired metal and continues to do so, so I'm wondering if maybe we could merge the classic rock appreciation thread with this one?

I've said it once and I'll say it again, with so many people in fear of a "depression" happening and the news outlets promoting said fear, people need to escape and need something to actually enjoy and have fun with. That's one of the reasons I have this thread on the first page and contribute to it on a daily basis, so people can actually get away from the fear and actually enjoy something for once.

But I am going to do things a little differently with the metal collections I put together. There will be a particular theme, like for instance, if I want to post something about a great metal singer I'll post songs of the bands they're in, solo material, and so forth. Kind of like what I did with Russell Allen of Symphony X.

Next one I am going to do is Rob Halford and that will probably be posted later on tonight.

I also would like to add how sucky it is to have the second and last Control Denied album from the late great Chuck Schuldiner. Last I heard it's tied up in the courts and those who were involved with it like Shannon Hamm, Richard Christy, Tim Aymar, and Steve Digiorgio(spelling?) want to complete the album.

Chuck had all of the guitar work recorded and all that needs to be completed is the vocals, bass, and drums. I wonder if it will ever get released? It's a shame that he died before he could complete it.

I have to give you a hand for keeping this thread alive. I wouldn't care if this was merged with the classic rock thread, it'll provide a chance to convert some people into Metalheads and vice versa. Oh and when you do an Opeth collection make sure to put up Moonlapse Vertigo, that song isn't played enough. Also because my track on the CD is messed up and it stops five minutes into the song.

Thanks and most definitely.

Speaking of Opeth, have you heard their new album? It's pretty good. Very different from their previous work, but it's still great stuff to listen to. I'll definitely put together an Opeth collection which will be tomorrow most likely.

I've listened to a couple of the songs off of the new album, though I'm holding off on buying it until I get the other CDs I need from them. I still need to but Morningrise, Damnation and Deliverence, then I'll have all of their CDs except for Watershed. I might have to try to get my Still Life CD resurfaced to fix the problem with Moonlapse, thanks for posting that by the way.

I have every single Opeth album except for The Roundhouse Tapes and Deliverance. I know they also have a live DVD as well, but it's pretty hard to find in the area I live in, you know? But overall they're an amazing band that has combined death metal, black metal, folk music, and jazz into one amazing combination that makes them a very unique band.

I have to say Still Life, Ghost Reveries, and Damnation are their best albums for me. All of them are great obviously, it's just those really have a special connection to me and I'm a sucker for concept albums.

I'd have to say that my favorite from them would be My Arms, Your Hearse. That concept album is great and I can listen to it all the way through all the time. I don't like having to listen to individual songs from that album because they all run so well together. That's their stand out for me and all the other albums they put out are all so great that I can't really pick out a second favorite. One of the reasons M.A.Y.H. stands out for me is because it was my first Opeth album, so it holds a special place for that reason.

I have a question for you Sunrise and anyone else who wants to chime in, how did you discover metal? My story is kind of embrassing but whatever. The first time I heard any metal was while I was watching TRL when I was about twelve. That was the first time I heard the band KoRn. While tame compared to the stuff I listen to now(Bands like Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir) it was the heaviest stuff I had heard up to that point and I've never looked back. I kind of got tired of a lot of the Nu Metal stuff and just gradually moved to the next steps.

How did I discover metal? I was 9 years old and being dragged to church every sunday (morning and night) by mom and dad. On one particular sunday night, a video was shown to us kids about "satanic music" or some ****. AC/DC, Styx, Queen, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Venom, Slayer, Metallica, Exodus, WASP, Iron Maiden, etc. I stopped paying attention to narration as I found the bands being shown were far more interesting. I went back home and found a couple of them in my old man's LP collection (Black Sabbath, Queen, Deep Purple)

I was doomed to become a hard rock/metal fan. My mom is into hard rock and classic metal, I was raised on Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. My dad was into mid to late 80's metal like Guns & Roses and some glam bands. I have been a rocker all my life. Its strange that I never had to rebel or do silly outsider teenager stuff because my parents liked the same stuff I did. I wasn't chastised, abused or looked down upon. I was a super lucky kid to have had young and cool parents. So I never really discovered metal to me it was always there. However when I was about 6-7 I first listened to Danzig and thats when metal/rock became important to me.

How did I discover metal? Well, it's kind of a long story. I lived in California for four years and the majority of the kids listened to rap, said kids were also the most popular guys and got the girls. I figured listening to rap would help me be popular and fit in.

My sister had albums like Aerosmith, Bette Midler, Live, and Nirvana. I would listen to them sometimes but never really got into it. It wasn't until I was up one night watching wrestling and Hulk Hogan's theme song was Voodoo Child(Slight Return) by Jimi Hendrix. I had NEVER heard a guitar sound like that before and I kept on rewinding the tape over and over again, my mind was just sucked in by the sound of the guitar and I made it a mission to find EVERY Hendrix album.

Eventually I discovered Van Halen(my dad was a Van Halen fan when David Lee Roth first joined). However, I was in school one day and my teacher had this HUGE Led Zeppelin box set behind her desk and I asked her about it. I had heard of Led Zeppelin being the pioneer's of heavy metal and everything, so I asked her about their song Stairway to Heaven and she replied, "I take it you want to listen to it?"

So I got my cd player and put in the Zoso album and went to Stairway To Heaven. At first I was like "what the hell is this?" and she said "Just listen." I sat there and listened becoming more and more interested, then when the famous Jimmy Page solo came on and Robert Plant's high vocals came in? That was it for me. I was hooked on metal every since and I have never returned to the rap crap. Eventually my collection became ALL metal and it's a MASSIVE collection I have too. Everything from Deicide, Opeth, Iron Maiden, Kamelot, Trivium, Metallica, Judas Priest, Helloween, Queensryche, Iced Earth, Death, Black Sabbath, Nevermore, Blind Guardian, Nightwish, Symphony X, W.A.S.P., God Forbid, Shadows Fall, and etc are all there in my collection.

So Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Van Halen were my introduction to the metal genre.

This might as well be a Judas Priest collection because I'm not a huge fan of Halford's earlier solo work. But his last two solo albums were a return to pure metal and I'll post those as well.

Well, I stated out listening to the stuff my parents listened to -- like Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Styx -- and thought it was cool. That kinda got me in the rock stuff, which everyone in school seemed to enjoy. I've been expsosed to metal in the Tony Hawk games, but didn't seem intrigued by the genre until Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast in THPS4, which was probably one of the most catchy songs I remember growing up. And I remember getting into Maiden more and more by checking out their music videos because they seemed like the metal I was looking for. So I guess Maiden was technically my first metal band for me and since then I've been into stuff like Mortification, Judas Priest, Horde, and Black Sabbath.

I don't listen to metal that often, I'm more of a coldplay guy,:o but I have always wondered about the next step for many genres of Metal like Black, Death, and Speed Metal. The stuff of today brought back to say something like the 50's would be a total mind-() I don't want to call it evolution because each type of metal even glam, has its merits. I like all metal, and I'm not trying to knock metal, but in terms of how the lyrics are so extreme these days compared to earlier groups it skews my conception of what metal is. Some bands I've heard talk about the most profane things imaginable. It makes me wonder how you go past something like this line from Dimmu Borgir

I could rip your guts out
And let you watch me
Sacrifice your unborn child
I could leave you to starve
And even bring you to total silence
...but I won't

For I find no pleasure in your physical pain
I want your Christian soul to crumble

Your (f) soul

:wow:
I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with this, but right now I am wondering how this could become darker, danker, and more macabreer?:oldrazz:
Is there a peak to metal in terms of (lyrics mostly) expression?

I don't think its really about making the lyrics darker, its about taking the concepts and showing them in new and interesting ways. I think of it in terms of the way rap music is right now. It has been talking about the same thing since the early 90's, all of them have a basic theme but people still seem to enjoy the newer stuff. And there are always acts that will bring new things to a genre if not lyrically, musically.

That's true, I heard that rappers are doing public service announcements about not killing yo self and people still enjoy that.
