MGM to remake the Secret of NIMH

Just learned that Madigan was previously a VFX supervisor. Sure, because that never goes wrong.

AVPR, Eragon, Maleficent, The Huntsman. I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting.

1st time director raises an eyebrow for me.
That story in live action seems suited for either T. Gilliam or T. Burton.

The movie is better than the book, honestly.

I remember reading the book in grade school and being disappointed that it was so different from the movie.

The movie's villain Jenner barely exists in the book. He's like a minor side character.

If I recall, he isn't even in the actual story. He's just mentioned as disagreeing with the plan, leaving, then dying off page. The book didn't have any type of huge climax. I liked that the movie made Jenner the bad guy, added some magic, and had a huge fight between Jenner and Justin.

When a studio is searching for a director and a woman director is on the list without any big budget experience 10 pages on SHH are spend on complaining how she doesnt have enough experience and that she should start with small movies.
In the misc. movies section i am seeing every 6 months how a white guy gets a job to direct a movie. With no directing experience. This is getting out of hand.

For me, its nothing to do with gender or race at all. Just finding the right 'person' for the job.
Hey, if Katheryn Bigelow wanted a shot at it, I would say yes. Not because she is a female just because she is more qualified.

Is MGM behind this still? There's a reason they went bankrupt a few years ago - and their record lately has been horrible. If you think Sony or STX were bad..well..

We'll see if this ever gets out of development hell or not.
