Millenials are causing the death of the casual dining restaurant

I'm normally the first in line to complain about Millenials... but, the reasoning behind in story is kinda dumb

I thought, maybe it was going to say that them hanging around at these types of restaurants only ordering one tray of 50% appetizers for like 10 people, and none of them actually eating just taking pictures of their food and tweeting selfies, was taking up time/space and scarring away there older regulars

They are also to blame for the death of theaters, cable television, home phones, zoos, handwriting, VHS and cassette tapes, the careers of untold celebrities who predate 2010, newspapers, film, the horseless carriage and Firefly.

Alternate headline: "Millenials can't afford to eat at casual dining restaurants"

I find it hilarious when people complain about millennials.

Because they're usually from the generation who raised them.

So who's fault is it how they turned out, mmhhm?

The most selfish generation raised the second most selfish generation. The funny part is the millennials in the developed world are inheriting the worst economic conditions outside of an economic depression or world war, that their parents essentially caused.

Before clicking the link I thought it was talking about casual/fine dining restaurants. But its actually about those chain restaurants like TGI Fridays and Buffalo Wild Wings. But there are a lot of casual/fine dining restaurants where I live and they are always packed on the weekends. One Saturday I tried to go to a restaurant and get a sandwich called a S***man and the place was full.

Anyway, a lot of the complainers are large-format chain restaurants with bleh food that only exist so bored people don't ever have to try anything new. If this gives more market share to small and innovative independent restaurateurs, who thanks to apps like ubereats and doordash have a whole new revenue stream they didn't have before, all the power to them.

Complaints about Millennials related to phones make me laugh because pretty much every current living g generation uses cellphones and boomers on down use smart phones. Go to a movie theater and the jerk on a cellphone is just as like to be to be 60 as they are 26.

Preach x2

The annoying thing is that this is so cyclical. Every generation next generation is labelled as "the worst" in so many words. Millenials (I hate that name) are going complain about the iGeneration or whatever the one after us is called

The worst people in movie theatres with the phones are bougie women aged 45-60. They think they've got this magical forcefield around them that means nobody will ever call them on their ****. Young people are used to be pushed around by authority figures, so often they know better than to text during a movie.

They want to blame us for everything. Maybe these restaurants should serve better food. How about that?

Unless you have diners, theme restaurants are the only ones open at least until midnight. But, I never would go to one for lunch because I don't want a $15.00 lunch when you can have $10 Qdoba or Panera.

It's large chains making excuses for falling out of favor. They're not keeping up with the trends which are offering new things, and will eventually go the Blockbuster, Circuit City route because of changing tastes. There's also the problem of losing lunch business which all restaurants are now seeing because the attitude is more geared towards working out at lunch, or working through lunch, and eating at your desk.

This place is a local chain similar to them and it's exploding.

Also I don't want to pay $15 for a meal at a chain when I can get something better and faster somewhere else for less.

People don't want to spend the time or money on low-quality, overpriced food.

Shocking.

Society raises kids because parents are either too lazy or in fear of repercussions placed by society. Society now is pushing for single parents as a positive thing...which is a WTF?

I agree that both generations are extremely selflish. Their parents won't give up anything and the millennials demand everything.

For a prime example of millennials today (outside of $15 avocado toast), look no further than at Reality Winner, the anti-white SJW, white woman...named Reality Winner...that held top secret clearance and leaked classified information purely on the basis of political opposition to the current administration. What a dumb reason to die on a sword. I would ask if she thought this through but her name is Reality Winner and her Twitter posts are idiotic.

I already lower my expectations when I'm dragged to one of these places, only to be let down even more than I had expected.

This. I call ******** on it being a generational thing. These chains charge too much and the quality is meh. If I have a choice between paying $15 for bland ribs at Applebee's or going to my favorite neighborhood joint and pay much less for much better food.

Honestly feel like a lot of these chain casual eateries will just shift moreso to cater on the go moreso. With phone apps and technology as is, I think some of these large chains will sync up more without compromising quality.

People will make a reservation and get there food to-go. :woot:

The big advantage of these chains is familiarity. If you are at a place you don't know and you run across a Chili's or Outback, you know what to expect. It might not be amazing, but it is safe. With standalones, it was a gamble. You never knew whether the place you were visiting would be a candidate to get a visit from Guy Fieri or a visit from Gordon Ramsay.

These days with easy access to Tripadvisor, Yelp, etc. it is so much easier than it used to be to find the best local places, so a lot of the appeal of the chains isn't there anymore.

Every generation *****es out the next. It's been going on since we had language to tell others about it.

Hell, there's quotes attributed to Greek Philosophers that say the same damn thing.

Also, **** most chain places. They're terrible and substandard at best.
