COLUMBUS - This clip speaks for itself -- literally. The Columbus Dispatch discovered a homeless man along Ohio's I-71 claiming to have "the God-given gift of voice," and what began as your everyday viral video has exploded into a life-changing experience for one man. Yesterday morning he was a panhandler; today he's the most in-demand voice personality in the world, thanks to offers from countless radio stations, voiceover gigs and even the Cleveland Cavaliers.
His name is Ted Williams, and he's an ex-radio announcer according to the note he scrawled on a piece of cardboard that he used to solicit change from drivers. And wow, does Williams ever deliver for a dollar. Williams tells the Dispatch about his struggles, but thankfully "alcohol and drugs and a few other things" haven't diminished Williams' velvety vocal cords, and he says he's two years clean now.

"I have a god given gift of voice. I'm an ex-radio announcer who has fallen on hard times. Please! Any help will be greatfully appreciated. Thank you and God bless. Happy holidays," reads Williams' roadside sign for help.
I was watching this video yesterday when it had three million views. It got three million views after one day and now the video has six million views. His name is Ted Williams. The 53 year old homeless man who was once (unfortunately) a junkie/addict really does have a God given voice. Anyways, here is the original video:

After the video became a hit, people were quick to get this man off the streets. He had an interview with the CBS Morning Show. The NBA, the NFL, and MTV are already trying to sign this guy. I teared up during his interview with CBS. It really is a miracle that all this happened to him in only 24 hours. God is good. Here is the CBS video:

I watched the video some odd hours ago, he does have a great voice

Good job, everyone deserves a second chance. Stay clean dude!

I'm glad to see someone given a second lease on life. :yay:

Nice story. Hopefully he stays away from the drugs for good.

Sadly, Given the history of the hype, this thread with the word "Miracle" in the title about a "God-given voice"will probably be closed by Friday.

Well, I don't see how this is a miracle. It's like calling anyone with talent a miracle. He said in the interview he worked on his voice.

Maybe he could be the new "movie trailer guy." There was one guy who did tons of those voiceovers in Hollywood who sadly passed away about a year or so ago.

Good luck to him!

Its not the fact that he has a talent that is being called a miracle. Its the idea that he was a homeless person, on the street for years, fighting drugs, alcohol, hunger, sickness, depression - all the trademark facets of being homeless like the millions of other homeless people in the US, and because of one 30 second video posted on youtube, his life has completely turned around. He went from begging for change to people begging HIM to work for them.

You don't have to be a bible thumper to call this man's amazing luck a miracle (miracle can also mean a marvel, or event that surpasses normal quality expectations).

Even though this guy has a criminal record (along with the 6 mug shots to prove it below in link)...he deserves this chance. But if he screws this up...

He also has 9 kids that seem to be grown up living in the area. Like I said, he should be grateful for this chance, but I hope this chance doesn't end badly.

Even though this guy has a criminal record? :whatever:

Seriously, what the **** does that have to do with this story? We already know his life was at a low point, we don't need you to point that for us.

great for him! the guy does have a great voice for tv & radio

youtube makes dreams come true once again....it's like disney magic that's real!

I live in Columbus, and work not far from where he was discovered for lack of a better word. It's the talk of the town, the local radio station who helped, has been just overwhelmed with requests for Ted to appear on their stations or work for them from all over the world.
He has received hundreds of job offers, including as everyone knows the Cleveland Cavaliers, NFL Films, Kraft, MTV and numerous ad companies.
Ted is just a wonderful guy and hope for the best for him.

Homeless man turns down Cavs job upon learning he must move to Cleveland

COLUMBUS—After years of alcohol and drug abuse, Ted Williams lost his job in radio and found himself homeless. Now, with videos of him peddling his golden voice for spare change becoming an Internet sensation, Williams has received a shot at redemption. Yesterday, the Cleveland Cavaliers extended a job offer to Williams, requesting his vocal talents, an offer he promptly turned down after learning the job would require him to move to Cleveland.

“I’m extremely thankful for the Cavaliers offer,” a humble Williams told reporters from outside his roadside tent. “I just have to politely decline. Look, living in a tent near a noisy interstate is bad enough, but Cleveland? No way. Not saying Columbus is all roses and sunshine, but Jesus, Cleveland? Surrounded by all that blight and depression. No thanks, I've gone through enough hardships.”

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I don't know jack about Cleveland, but I would move there just because it's where Howard the Duck hangs out.

This guy deserves it. He's actually stated clean, unlike most bums who ask you for money & then go buy some of the s*** that got them there. I hope he makes it big!

Yeah for sure, he's been 2 years clean. It must have been hard to not fall back into those bad habits.

Well, when you don't have any money for drugs, it's kind of tough to get them. Now is when the real struggle will begin when he has money again for drugs.
