Models barred from catwalk for being too thin

They need to be treated for poor mental health as well. :csad:

"Dear ana! Thankyou for making me thin!"

Anorexics are weirdos. Seriously though. A mental disorder that's seen as being almost exclusively a female thing. There are groups that encourage each other. They give it a girly name like ana.

You don't see ANY alchoholics making pro-alchoholic websites.

I saw some websiite with a forum for anorexics,i thin it was proana or something like that.Does anyone know?

There's a whole bunch of pro-ana websites.

Reading through alot of the stuff these girls say and talk about with each other, you would think it's probably alot to do with attention seeking, sympathy seeking, and revelling in your own stupid selfish misery. I have to admit, sometimes I think I'm a bit sexist. Maybe you've seen me say I hate females. But it's just that girls display this... attitude. Hard to put a description on it.

Yeah, I know a good way to describe part of it. Part of what I see as the female attitude... they're so damn emo. It's ridiculous. You just feel like grabbing some girls, shaking them, and shouting "stop being such a silly little girl!!!".

They all have pics like this

Or pics of the Olsen twins. The Olsen twins!!

They call themselves stuff like darkness_d, mustbflawless, stupid crap like that. It seems like every female thinks she's an artist. Women seem to enjoy revelling in their own pain!

The way they throw sympathy at each other is also sickeningly female.

Am I the only man that feels this way?

Anorexia is about control.
Women or girls might start on the path to anorexia for other reaons but it all ends up about them feeling as though they are not in control of their own life.
What they eat, they can control. They are basically killing themselves slowly, exerting their control over their own lives. And yes, slowly, in the hope someone will stop them.
The whole flawless and beautiful thing is merely glorification.

There are alot more women anorexics than male anorexics.

Thats because women are control freaks! :p

Women have more pressure put upon them physically by society than men do. And so their need of control manifests itself that way.

Men generally manifest their loss of control through violence.

Haha for them. Maybe this'll make them eat a piece of lettuce or something.

I'm glad to see members of the fashion industry stepping up to the plate and being a little more responsible about this. They've somehow gotten the idea that stick figures are what will make their clothes appear to look the best, so that's all they've hired to wear them at shows. Here's an idea...start making friggin' clothes that normal people will want to wear and see what they look like in. Then maybe society will stop inbreeding women who strive for bodies that resemble pre-pubescent little boys by gorging on crash diets, ephedrine pills, cocaine and cigarettes.

This incident happened in Spain though.....France is the country who really needs to step up when it comes to models' health. Runway models have been like this for ages.....stick skinny, and you can't have large breasts either. If I recall, Tyra Banks was considered a "plus size" model in the industry.....very sad.
Outside of runway models though, I think that "volumptiousness" IS coming back in style.....curves, breasts, and a booty is much more desirable these days.

I find that pretty doubtful, actually. I hover around the 18 BMI limit, and I'm not as thin as she is. I'm almost there..but you can't see the ligaments and tendons in my arms, LOL. Plus my thighs are definitely bigger. That photo is also from last year, so it's possible that she flunked this year.

I'm pretty sure she's had a boob job, though. Dem coconuts on her chest...

I don't think it's actually the modeling industry that's causing so many women pain, but the mainstream entertainment industry. Models don't have curves, yet women still flock to plastic surgeons for artificial boob and/or booty. You see thin women with large breasts on TV, in movies, and yes, in porn. (You won't believe how many women shave "down there" just because porn stars do also....) It's only from listening to men go, "So-and-so movie star is SO HOT!" that women want to look like them. Not that it's your fault - women put pressures on each other to look a certain way, and I think that a lot of women out there don't have the self-confidence to throw those external pressures away.

And no, I'm not anorexic, I've just got purified skinny genes from my parents. I'm also on a food budget because my job doesn't pay particularly well and I want to be able to pay for grad school. :oldrazz:

I read in another article that girls who were under a 16 BMI got medical attention. I find that pretty reasonable - nobody is naturally a 16 BMI. Nobody.

When will girls understand that being really skinny isn't attractive. I prefer women with a bit of meat on them - not to much - but a bit.

Preach it girl! :) I also have an 18 BMI, and although my weight is considered "underweight" for my height, I don't look unhealthy or anything, and I've actually been trying to gain weight for ages, not the opposite. I'm just a slender lady lol.

My BMI was at 18.5 last i checked. Was considered borderline...but i eat....

Yeah I think mine is around 18.3.....I eat too, so oh well.

I have no clue what mine is and dont really care.
Im healthy and know I am.

You make alot of excellent points.

Though, as much as I blame the media and girl magazines and tabloids, I think girls only have themselves to blame. They put this pressure on themselves.

Why do you do it to yourselves? Men generally have a far more relaxed attitude about weight and looks in general. In fact, I feel that alot of men that do clean themselves up and worry about their hair, etc, really look stupid anyway.
