Beautiful talented marketable and yet very affordable up and coming actress. Zoe Saldana and Rosario Dawson are already cast in the MCU. Naomie's the best choice. If Scandal ends Kerry Washington could do a bang-up job too.

Current white and black high-contrast costume with the short curly twisty things is my preference. They also may want to consider doing something new if they tie her in with Mar-Vell and sort of skip around Carol (not likely).

Excellent stuff. The hairstyle question was meant to be lighthearted. Though her hair is different enough at times that I actually think people do have a preference.

So, one challenge with bringing Monica to the screen is that you kinda have to nerf her... considerably. Her powerset is just entirely to monstrous for much of anything to cause her a problem.

I don't know, I'd say the only thing you really need to do is drop the superspeed. Everything else can be handled by appropriate choice of villainous opposition, and some clever application of counter-phlebotinum ( reflective surfaces vs visible light, faraday cages vs electromagnetic waves, lead vs gamma rays, etc ).

That does sound like fun. What might be interesting is if you just take away her ability to *think* at superspeed, so she can still do a sort of light-based pseudo-teleport but she can't do Quicksilver's job.

I think Blackout or Shroud with their Darkforce would be a great thematic villain for her. It might be interesting to have Kristina Ramos be her origin villain, for the kind of girl-vs-girl thing that people seem to go for.

Spectrum, Danvers, hopefully She-Hulk at some point. Marvel can solve the diversity debate in one swoop with these characters.

EDIT: Also on the tv front, Misty Knight and Colleen Wing could make an appearance on the Netflix shows. Cross overs with Iron fist, Luke Cage etc.

So as someone who grew up on X-Men and only started reading Avengers around Civil War, I must ask, what is so awesome about Monica??

I've seen a lot of people pushing for her over Carol Danvers as Ms. Marvel, but I don't think I've ever read a story with her. Pretty much my entire Comic-reading career, Carol's been Ms. Marvel, so I just want to know what differentiates them, and why many claim she's a more interesting character.

I wanted to pick up Mighty Avengers, but Greg Land's "traced white pornstars colored brown" art is not appealing to me.

Not really into the idea of picking up old books, but if there's one good collected run that anyone could suggest, I'd be open to it.

Another watered down hero's powers. I'm not saying they need to go all out but she should keep her power set. After seeing the way Fox and Singer handled Bishop, with his now drawing energy only to fire it through a gun? How sterotypical is that. A black man with a gun. All this still gives me little hope for superheros of color. They usually never have much in the way of powers.
