Monster Hunter Stories will launch for 3DS in North America and Europe, Nintendo announced.

A demo for the Monster Hunter RPG will be available in both regions via the Nintendo eShop on August 10.

Here’s an overview of the game, via Nintendo:
Venture into monster nests to collect eggs and hatch a wide array of species with uniquely powerful skills. Form teams, battle alongside them, crush opponents with combo attacks, and ride into the sunset a champion. Need more muscle? Then mix and match genes to create monsters with more abilities!
When a monster infected by the Black Blight attacks your remote village of riders, tragedy will thrust you into an exciting yet dangerous world, where you must bond with monsters on your adventure. As the story snakes along, you’ll encounter a wealth of side quests and hours of challenging turn-based battles where you must coordinate monster skills, rider skills and enemy attack patterns. The instinctive rock-paper-scissors combat system is a series first, a breath of fresh air for veterans and newcomers alike. It’s the perfect entry point into the popular Monster Hunter universe and a game unlike anything else in the series! You can even battle other players online, locally, or via the StreetPass feature!

 • A vast world filled with uniquely skilled monsters to hatch, ride, and fight beside.
 • Form a team of monsters and execute powerful combo attacks.
 • Every monster’s genes contain a unique set of skills and attributes. Channel genes from one to another to customize your own monster!
 • Varied side quests and challenging battles bolster hours of gameplay.
 • The first ever turn-based battles in Monster Hunter series history!

Nintendo has released a brand new gameplay video trailer for the upcoming 3DS game Monster Hunter Stories. The game is a spin off from the Monster Hunter Series where you take the role of a rider instead of a Hunter. It was released next year for Japan.

The video shows the gameplay mechanics and how is the battle system. Combat is completely an RPG style where players take turns and can attack enemies with their monsters at the same time. When in combat, there are 3 basic attack types (power, speed and tech).

The player must guess which attack the enemy will choose and must counter it with the opposite one, just like in rock-paper-scissor.

There are more additions in the combat system, like the chance to perform a double attack with your monster and a devastating kinship skill similar to a super move. You’ll need to fill a bar in order to execute this move.

The game packs more features including hatching eggs and befriending monsters. You can do that by transferring genes from one monster to another. This allows the player to experiment and create their own monster with special abilities and appearance.

Monster Hunter Stories will finally release for North America and Europe tomorrow exclusively for Nintendo 3DS.

Monster Hunter Stories’ The Legend of Zelda crossover DLC has been dated. People in North America and Europe will be able to get some rather familiar equipment and an iconic horse on September 28, 2017. This DLC will be a free download for anyone who owns the Nintendo 3DS game.

Nintendo has released a trailer showing the extras in action. People will get a Master Sword for their Rider to wield and Link’s outfit for them to wear. Navirou will get Majora’s Mask. Epona will join your roster as a Monstie, with the Kinship Skill Triforce Gallop. Since equipment can be upgraded in Monster Hunter Stories, you can keep improving the Link outfit to make sure it remains relevant.
