Moon is the feature directorial debut of Duncan Jones and centers on Astronaut Sam Bell (Rockwell), a man who has spent the last three years on the moon base Selene, working for the company “Lunar”. Two weeks shy of his departure from Selene, Sam starts seeing things, hearing things and feeling strange. He soon discovers that Lunar has plans for replacing him and the new recruit is eerily familiar.

Kevin Spacey Is Sam Rockwell's Robot Buddy

Sam Rockwell is seemingly showing up everywhere these days, in a bunch of indie comedies ranging from dark and depressing (Snow Angels) to dark and funny (Choke). Seriously, though, the guy has range, and now it looks like he might have the role that will give him a chance to prove it to everyone else.

Rockwell will be starring in Moon, playing a lunar miner whose tour of duty in space is about to end. When it comes time to go, though, his own clone shows up to replace him. During a press interview to promote Choke, io9 reports, Rockwell revealed who his non-clone co-star would be. "We've got Kevin Spacey who's going to play the voice of the robot. Which is great. But [otherwise] it's just me, and there are a couple of supporting roles of people who do transmissions onto the space station."

Seriously, who better than Kevin Spacey to play an all-knowing, most-likely-nefarious robot? It's like HAL from 2001, but with Spacey's awesomely suave voice. Moon comes out in 2009, and it may be a chance for more people to get to know Rockwell's talents, and to appreciate Spacey's all over again.

I absolutely love Sam Rockwell. This looks like it could be great and the idea is very cool. We will get to see a side of Sam Rockwell he needs to show.

It has the exact idea of a Sci Fi book that I would love to read. Really excited for this one.

I love David Bowie and I'm sure his son has all the right genes!

also, this does have a sci-fi novel vibe to it, doesn't it?

I am really looking forward to this film, i am a big fan of Sam Rockwell and cannot wait for a trailer.

Intersting story, and I love both Spacey and Rockwell

When is trailer going to come out?

This sounds, looks and feels the many, many sci-fi novels I "wasted time" with, as a kid. (Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, anyone?).

I'm looking forward to it.

Wow, these new pictures are brilliant, do we have a release date yet?

it might. there's always sundance, canne, and toronto.

The Wrestler didn't get sold to a studio until Toronto and that was back in August/ September.

Sony has distribution rights. I'd expect the release to be sooner rather then later as the film has been finished for a little bit

David Bowie is a ****ing legend. (sorry, but that should be said in every topic that somehow relates to him :p) I didn't know his son is a director. But then again, why should I? But it's cool ayway. Sam Rockwell was great in The Assassination of Jesse James (etc.) and the story sounds very intriguingand I like sci-fi flicks that are a bit different (Sunshine!), the title is a bit boring but I'll definately keep an eye out for this one.

I love Rockwell. I think he is one of the best under appreciated talents in Hollywood, plus the premise (Cast Away in space)

so I am totally there

Rockwell rocked as the thug in the first live action "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". "We're a family!"

I think I will have to see the trailer before I decide to say if I think it looks any good. Also it looks similar to 2001 which I am not sure is a good thing or a bad thing.

Personally, I think that's a good thing;

I'm also getting a 'solitary space movie' vibe ala 'Saturn 3', 'Silent Running', 'Android'.
