Moon

Just watched this today after receiving it from Netflix. WOW, what else can be said about this movie because I'm pretty speechless after watching this modern masterpiece. I've always thought Rockwell was a pretty good actor in films I've seen like Green Mile and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy but I now have a new found respect for him after viewing Moon, it's the performance of a lifetime.

I hope more movie studios take note of this film and realize that you don't have to be flashy or big budget to make a great film and hopefully we get more sci-fi films like this one. If you haven't seen this film yet I highly recommend you go rent or purchase it and hopefully you enjoy it as much as I have.

Nice to hear another poster checking this film out.

It's a shame he wasn't even nominated this year. :(

I watched this today too. It was good, although I didn't find Rockwell's performance being anything spectacular. I mean he was good but nothing special, to me.

I saw this at my college's movie theater. It was pretty darn awesome but I wonder if anyone noticed that this was really another version of Alien:Ressurection (obviously a fan of alien, the outpost looks exactly like the nostronomo)

But its really cool to see how they both had the same concept of
multiple clones working for a corrupt corporation
yet moon is infinitely better. It all has to do with execution.

Well maybe to Alien....but Alien Resurrection. Never once did I think/feel that. 99 percent of the people I know say it definatley takes more from Blade Runner then anything. AR had clones....that is about as far as it goes. The rest was bland and generic, and never looked deeper then that. But BR much more seems to be its influence (story wise) then AR. Yet I do agree there was some things looked like the Nostromo.

Well, we know Jones loves BR. The same elements were used from it as well. But Moon was done in the right way. Instead of straight up copying it, he used that same idea, but still made it seem new.

Well of course. I'm just saying I don't see AR in that at all. Besides there being clones.

Yeah, was a damn shame the movie or Rockwell didnt get at least nominated, they both deserved to be IMO.

yea this is a big snub, at least get Sam Rockwell for best actor. oh well

there was absolutly no official push for this film at the awards

this and the road.

I don't get it? How do you not see it?

In Alien 4 Ripley discovers that she was a clone and that she had no past and no life...she was there only to work as a corporate slave (literally) for the company. Not to mention there were many many more Ripleys ready for use and experimentation by the company. This is basically the same exact idea in Moon. Don't get me wrong...Moon is infinitely better than the piece of turd called Alien Resurrection but the stories from both are obviously very similar

Yes, it does. But Alien Resurrection took from much earlier films, which Duncan said inspired him. AR was not the first movie to do this. Such as "The Boy from Brazil" about people trying to clone more Hitler's to re create the furher, and there is many of these kids cloned. Just like Ripley. Just as a corporation that does it for Ripley. There are many stories of clones of some one being made to serve a purpose. Alien Resurrection was not the first to be like this.

That and why I think Blade Runner/Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? more is it focuses on replicants feelings, and the feeling of being used as tools, and nothing more. Additionally, having a limited life span, then they die.

Yea you can point it to AR. But I've seen sci-fi's and read sci-fi's that did this exact thing way before AR. So to say that they took it from AR...no. But did AR and Moon take it from earlier sources clearly yes.

Just saw this and all I can say is wow! What a film!! It was so intelligent in the way it showed loneliness from a male perspective.

I really can't wait to see more Duncan Jones films. If his name is on it, I'm gonna see it.

I saw the first 20 minutes at my buddies before I had to leave for work back in March or so and really found it interesting an it was definitely something I wanted to come back to. Unfortunately his computer crashed and he lost the movie but today I finally picked it up on Blu-Ray and finally got to see it from beginning to end and I gotta say I was really impressed with this. I'm surprised it didn't get more attention from word of mouth or at least some type of buzz after it's release. I really think this is a hidden gem that people will slowly discover as time passes and they randomly decide to check this out
