A dispute at a Lancaster movie theater during a screening of "Shutter Island" ended with someone plunging a meat thermometer into the neck of the man who complained about someone sitting near him talking on a cellphone during the show.

The incident occurred two weeks ago at the Cinemark 22 theater, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The theater was packed for a 9 p.m. Saturday screening of the Martin Scorsese film when the moviegoer complained about a woman near him using a cellphone.

The woman and two men with her left the theater. But sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said two men returned a few minutes later and stabbed the victim.

"It was a vicious and cowardly attack," Whitmore said. The victim, who was not identified, was hospitalized with serious wounds.

Two moviegoers who came to the victim's aid were also hurt during the fight, officials said.

One day we're gonna read a story about SuperFerret..

They didn't. They left first, presumably went to get a weapon, and then came back.

Well it says they only left for a few minutes, so did they have it in their car or something? It's still weird to stab someone with a meat thermometer regardless of the situation.

It could've been near a mall, so they bought the meat thermometer, but still weird.

That's what you get for disturbing someone's phone conversation!

Okay, but jokes aside, this deserves a

WTF? Poor guy... I hate people using there mobile phones in the cinema. This is outrageous.

they must have gotten the meat thermometer at the movie theater. They probably use one when they cook the hot dogs.

:doh:I'm from near there...and to think that Cinemark 22 is our nice theater.:o

Stabbing someone in the neck because they got you kicked out for using a cellphone? Shutter Island wasn't that good. :o

I think that's exactly what happened. We use those in my theater for hot dogs. This is just disgusting behavior.

lol There might be some aggression problems present. /obvious

You should be forced to turn over your cell phone battery before entering the theater

This is why I rarely go watch movies in theatres anymore. Too many dumbasses go there.

This is why I hate society, you can't say boo to anyone for fear of being hopped on by a gang, knifed, or shot. Then you feel like a god damn coward because you keep your mouth shut. :cmad:

I think we should start cutting off people's arms who use cell phones in the theater. If they talk, we should cut out their tongue. If you vote for me in 2028, I will make your movie going experience a peaceful one.

This message has been paid for by the E-Man coalition for the betterment of society. Remember, if they're stupid, they shouldn't be physically allowed to have kids. Vote for me.

Here we have a great example of the future Presidents law's.

They tried that in a theatre here. It's a bad solution.

Really what they should do is tell people that if they need to use their cellphones during a movie to please walk to the back of the theatre and out the doors first.

If someone doesn't do that then they should be asked to leave. However more often than not movie attendants don't care if you use your cellphone in a theatre.

I like going to movies in a theatre and I prefer it to watching them at home most of the time. When I can get out I enjoy it and if someone uses their cellphone during a movie I usually just get up and sit right beside them or sit in front of them.

Proving once again that cell phone use is addictive and can turn you into an A-hole.
