People complain about MCU having weak villains but what movies have both scene-stealing heroes and scene-stealing villains?

The Empire Strikes Back / Return of the Jedi
X-Men 1 and 2
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Batman '89

Just some off the top of my head. It's also a question of degree. I wasn't as much a fan of Le Chiffre in Casino Royale as I was James Bond, but I still liked him more than any of the MCU movie villains I've seen. Which isn't to say that none of them are any good, but they're not the most noteworthy lot.

Lots.

Die Hard, for sure. John McClane and Hans Gruber.
Goldfinger. Connery at his best and arguably the best villain in the series.
For A Few Dollars More with Manco and Indio.
Keeping on the western theme, Blazing Saddles with Sheriff Bart and Hedley Lamarr.
Colin Clive and Boris Karloff in the first two Frankenstein movies.
Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro in Heat.
King Schultz and Calvin Candie in Django Unchained.
Robin Hood and Guy of Gisbourne in The Adventures of Robin Hood.
Charlton Heston and Yul Brynner in The Ten Commandments.
Kyle Reese and The Terminator in the original film.
Would Jaws count?

Controversial (?) example, but The Dark Knight Trilogy.

Joker and Bane pretty much stole the show in II and III. Batman was sort of weak in those two. Even Catwoman had a better showing than Batman in III.

Lethal Weapon 1 and 2 (imo)

Heat

Halloween (1978) (hero being Loomis, not Laurie, as my scene stealer)

Big Trouble In Little China

Batman '89

Post 1966, there hasn't been a single live action Batman film that had both a scene stealing Batman and a scene stealing villian.

Matter of fact, the Batman film franchise has become known for Batman often getting outshined by his villains, even when he's the focus of the movie like in TDK and TDKR.

To answer the question of the thread, The Avengers. Hulk, Iron Man, and Loki are probably the three most iconic characters from that movie.
