Which films have you watched that have really exciting opening sequences.

Three that have stuck in my mind have been:

Blade
Vampire nightclub massacre. Great.

Swordfish
The opening features the finale funnly enough, a pretty exhiliarating but grim camera pan through a ball-bearing bomb exploding in a crowded street

Fast and Furious (2009)
Really exciting attempt at tring to steal an oil tanker with disastrous consequences

They are the ones that have stuck in my mind. I'm pretty sure there's at least one that I'm missing. Any ideas?

Exciting in a wicked way...

Die Hard with a Veangance:

Sunrise, all good in NY, cool song, normal city activity, BOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

:woot::o:hehe:

The Dark Knight's bank robbery........"I thought I came to see a superhero -movie":wow::woot::hehe:

The Dark Knight
Casino Royale
Quantum Of Solace

That is the one.

That gave me one unforgettable adrenaline rush. It's bankrobbers in clownmasks with uzi's and handguns. In a Batman movie. It was like an awesome 70's or even 40's heistflick. But then bigger and flashier.

I agree with The Dark Knight

Also, A New Hope with the giant arse star destroyer and Revenge of the Sith with the massive space battle.

I always go with the same movie for this kind of topic:

Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Marathon Man is another great one. It starts with an insane carchase involving 2 old men. It's hillarious.

Lethal Weapon 2 - What a great way to start that sequel!

Gangs of New York
The Green Mile
Pirates of the Caribbean: The curse of the Black Perl
Saving Private Ryan
The Curious case of Benjamin Button
The Dark knight
Lord of the Rings the Fellowship of the ring
Wall-E
The Beauty and the Beast
Dances with Wolves
Star Trek

Heat

The Dark Knight

The Matrix

Gangs of New York

Star Trek 2009

Saving Private Ryan

Gladiator

The Revenge of the Sith

A New Hope

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Temple of Doom

Bloodsport-seeing fighters from around the world preparing for a tournament was kinda cool as a kid.

Top Gun.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine-I'm referring to the opening credits, not the very beginning.

Star Trek(2009)-threw me right in the movie.

Street Fighter II: Animated Movie-sure it's not live action, but that Ryu VS. Sagat scene was one of the most memorable fight scenes IMO.

The Dark Knight-for the reasons mentioned in other posts.

Iron-Man-you don't really need a reason for this do you?

Well...I kinda do. I don't quite recall the opening scene. Something with an attack right? I didn't think it was particularly memorable. What I do think is memroable about the beginning of Iron Man was the title presentation. Truly the film's greatest moment. The zoom out from Downey's face, revealing a cliché Al Quaida-esque set-up with armed turban-wearing thugs. I think that was darkly humourous.

My vote is for Saving Private Ryan. Way intense. Phenomenal camera work.

The Dark Knight
Star Wars
All Indiana Jones Films
X2
Star Trek
Watchmen
Jaws

Anyone familiar with "Gunga Din"?

I'm pretty sure that Saving Private Ryan was the one I was forgetting about when i started this thread. Amazing introduction.

At the risk of inviting wrath, I'm going to state the TDK, Watchmen and Star Trek are nowhere near the same league as the ones I mentioned. Neither does A New Hope or Iron Man. A New Hope does have a significant and everlasting impact, but it does not get the adrenalin going.

Adrenaline, increased heart rate, sweaty palms. That's what I'm aiming for. If you got any of those from the pretty tame TDK opening sequence then you were too invested in the pre-release hype.

Quantum of Solace definitely comes to mind.

including with what everyone said above

Friday the 13th (2009)
it was a whole firday the 13th movie in that opening scene. once they showed the title screen after the opening scene, i was like :wow: damn!

The Lion King. Maybe the greatest most perfect animated sequence of all time.

Raiders of the Lost Ark
A New Hope
Saving Private Ryan
Revenge of the Sith
The Matrix
TDK
LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring
