Can you all believe this 80s animated fantasy classic and a Miyazaki/Ghibli Studios classic is 30? it premiered in Japan in 1988 and came to the US/world in 1993 when Troma/Fox/Streamline made a dub for audiences to see 25 years ago earning critical acclaim and was a best selling video for Fox. It was one of the anime movies that made anime mainstream in the US besides Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll etc.
Loved this for 25 years as i recalled i was 11 going on 12 seeing this in theaters after hearing about this in animation magazine/Starlog magazine/Comicscene magazine and i rented it and loved it, been one of the movies along with Akira, Little Nemo in Slumberland (Saw this in theaters in 92) and Vampire Hunter D that made me an anime fan despite i saw and loved some anime in the 80s especially the 1985 Warriors of the Wind cut of Nausicaa in theaters at age 4 before i knew was anime was thanks to Starlog/Comic Scene.
