As we saw at the end of the film, the story of how Leonidas and the brave 300 sacrificed themselves for freedom went from greek to greek, each one telling the other of how bad@$$ and brave and cool leonidas and his 300 were. they were, despite (because of) their deaths, celebrities, heroes, gods. They say the number 300 was probably exxagerated to make them seem even more heroic.
Zack Snyder told america the story too, making them seem bad@$$ and brave and cool. He exxaggerated some things just as the spartans did, and some things stuck. (The begining of the movie seeing leonidas as a kid is almost straight outta my school textbook.) He used cinematography, costumes, head-banging-inducing score, and script to tell us about leonidas and the brave 300 just as the spartans did, he just had to adjust some things the way the spartans did. no ***** they didnt wear capes and brown diapers, but it gives us the feeling of how cool the spartans were to greece. ANd havent the spartans become pop clture heroes just like they did back in ancient greece? dont we get a rush out of saying "tonight we dine in hell" or "this is sparta!!!"? WHen that movie came out, people who were like one 36th greek were like "Leonidas is my ancestor, bi-otch" I think the story of the 300 spatans lives on in a really unique way thanks to this movie.

So you're theory is the reason why 300 was so great was because it was badass?

Pretty sound theory.

spartans are not as cool as they are in the movie.

...I have a feeling I'm opening up a can of worms, but why do you say that?

Maybe he thinks so, because they were kinda evil people. Like leaving the unhealthy babies to die. I dunno, whatever his reason, they were a big part in the world's history. Leonidas I made the people feel proud for being Greek, not just Spartan or Athenion. Of course, then Greece had its civil war, but The Battle of Thermopaylea was a very important event in the world. Spartans might have not been the nicest people, but they changed the world.

This movie is great because...

1. naked women

2. nearly naked oily guys

3. THE ACTION

Easy:
1. Movie didn't really need dialogue, the visuals told the story itself
2. Limited Dialogue. Only badass phrases were used.
3. Amazing visuals
4. Epic fight scenes
5. Good soundtrack

Despite how historically unaccurate....etc...bull***..etc.....

It was an amazing movie.

It was body builders hacking up thousands of people with swords and spears. How could it NOT be awesome?

...I have a feeling I'm opening up a can of worms, but why do you say that?

cause it is loosely based on true events.

but the movie is AWESOME and i plan on buying the Blu-Ray version 29th july.:woot:

im not persian by the way.lol

spartans are not as cool as they are in the movie.
Duh. How could they be? Did you even read the first post? He correctly stated that some things were exaggerated, just as any Spartan soldier would if telling the story around a camp fire. Really, your post is futile.

My favorite part of the movie is the speech at the end by Dilios. The rest of the movie was awesome but that speech was like hearing Mel Gibson in Braveheart all over again lol. Gave me chills lol. Anyway, 300 is one of my top 10 favorite movies ever. And yes I know there are more than a few exxagerations and inaccuracies in it. I can look over those.

I get actually get what WalterKovacs is trying to say. The story is exaggerated as many folk tales passed through the generations are. Its purpose is to portray the characters as heroes.

Zack Snyder told america the story too, making them seem bad@$$ and brave and cool. He exxaggerated some things just as the spartans did, and some things stuck.

It's sketchy, but I get it.

Its a pure comic book masculine movie and doesnt pretend to be anything else thats why i love 300 i would love for one day a batman movie being made in the same vein as this movie (with gerard butler as harvey dent he has amazing intensity) it could be amazing.

300 was great because it was awesome.

end thread.

I enjoyed this movie by the style of the action was almost directly ripped off from the game God of War.

Oh boy was that movie intense. It was big and dramatic and violent. It was almost too much for me to take. I will be buying it though, if only to see all that footage they are including on the making of the film. It was beautifully done.

Overrated. All the action sequences felt the same The action was overdone, and got repetitive after a while. Normally, good action scenes can be translated into words (such as in a novel). This is how the fights in 300 are.

Stab, slice, run, stab, slice, turn around, block, stab, slice, guy dies, stab, another guy dies, two guys stab, slice more guys, stab, stab, kick, stab, punch, stab, slice.

"THIS IS SPARTA!"

Stab, slice, run, stab, slice, turn around, block, stab, slice, guy dies, stab, another guy dies, two guys stab, slice more guys, stab, stab, kick, stab, punch, stab, slice.

Naked women do not make a film good. There was only one naked woman, and she looked like a druggie.

The lighting was all right?

Sure, the film was a 'nearly perfect adaptation of the graphic novel', but if you have no clue what a graphic novel is, or don't care much about 'how accurate it is to the graphic novel', this point is moot. This point does not make the film any better.

The story was not very apparent. It was weak, and stupid (pretty much everyone knows this).

The effects were good, but what are effects without a good plot, and a good overall movie? This is pretty much a bad movie with decent effects. This movie sucks.

Overrated. Go watch Ben-Hur or Lord of the Rings.

The slo-mo in this movie got so redundant. Even some non-fighting scenes were slo-mo. Ugh.

Why was there no blood on the ground during the battle scenes?...

Anyway, I still like Gladiator and Braveheart better, much better, especially Gladiator, but it still got to me somehow...but I wouldn't call it great.
