Ok so the novel is a mystery a who-don-it with clues throughout, is the movie gonna be the same?

Only ive read a Plot Synopsis already saying who the villain is and what he does.

I love Watchmen as much as the next man, but without the mystery and the mind****ing subtext (which i cant see translating onto film) its not that exciting, ZS will no doubt add some cool action and im all for that...But then arent we just getting another V for Vendetta.

Cool an all but not what i really want.

Rant over FLAME ON!!!

I'm sure it's still a mystery, if not just for this reason: the common audience doesn't read plot synopsis'. :o

I have faith in Snyder. :o
But yeah, that does kind of bum me out that it's not really a mystery but I think it's what will draw people.

Point im making is their selling Veidt as the villain even tho he is a good guy till the end and even then he believes he is doing the "right" thing. The end justifies the means! There are no villains in Watchmen thats another reason why its regarded so highly

As scripted, he'll stick out as being the villain right from the word go anyhoo.

Give him an opera cape, top hat, and a twirly moustache and he couldn't be any more villainy.

And because he's the villain is precisely the reason why the hero (i.e. Dan) ends up killing him after delivering a hokey zinger of a line all to do with owls and not hearing them swoop down on you (enter Owlship crashing through window on remote control stage left and one squashed villainous Veidt).

After all, in the words of King Leonidas (sort of): THIS - IS - HOLLYWOOD!

That sounds like utter crap.

LOL! That does suck if that's what the script people have read has in it. :csad: Why can't they leave it as a mystry who dun-it kind of piece!!?

I read Hayter's draft. It kept it a mystery, but I seem to remember it cutting a lot of Viedt's scenes, and he seemed kind of obvious to me. Then again, I can't say with any real certainty that it wasn't just because I already knew he was behind it all. That hokey line about owls was in there though. One thing you can't blame on Tse... well, blame him for keeping it.

yeah, hayter's draft had it as a mystery...but, it was pretty obvious from early on who was behind it. that was one my few problems with hayters draft. it was a mystery, but not a very good one.

well i knew that it was viedt like straight after his assassination (it was way to cosy and it was dead obvious he was feeding him the cyanide capsule)
