BRYAN SINGER THINKS MYSTIQUE WOULD MAKE FOR AN INTERESTING X-MEN STANDALONE

What do you think?

Original X-Men movies: The movies are all about Wolverine.

Young X-Men movies: The movies are all about Mystique.

Nice to know how much Singer cares about the X-Men team after almost 20 years...

As someone who has defended a number of decisions Singer made with Apocalypse...

Just no, no, no, no, no. With each film, Lawrence becomes more apathetic. I liked her in FC, but she was asleep in Apocalypse. So, if she did it, it would only be for the money. Additionally, no fan really wants to see it, so its box office will probably be quite bad. And finally, I do not think this character can support her own film. There are female X-Men characters like Storm, Rogue, maybe Jean (but her biggest stories all involve the team reacting to her) who could... but not Mystique.

So overall, just nope.

To be fair that isn't really true. The marketing seems that way, but the X-movies have mostly been all about Charles and Erik since 2011. She did have a centerstage in DOFP, but she had less screen time than Charles, Erik, and Wolverine. And in Apocalypse, I would dare say that Jean Grey had as much screen time as Mystique if not more so, pushing Raven to about fourth in the line-up.

Trailers and films have different priorities. With that said, I was still not happy with how they used Mystique in Apocalypse. And her going solo is the very opposite of appealing.

I think Mystique would make an awesome movie, actually. One way it could go would be explore the foundation of her own Brotherhood of Mutants - almost Suicide Squad-esque.

Featuring lesbian lover Destiny ? : D

2 years ago? Yes. DOFP set things in motion perfectly. After Apocalypse? God no.

Singer and Kinberg are so out of touch with the fans, it's almost hilarious. F all those solo films and start making good team movies again. And for the love of god, don't make another Fant4stic movie, Kinberg! No one wants another FF disaster.

I think if this Mystique was more along the lines of Romjin's Mystique, then maybe.
Mystique is a really cool character with a cool story(Being Nightcrawlers mom, her relationship with Destiny etc), but they clearly arent going that route.

I like her well enough in the current series and think she was awesome in DOFP, but not so great in Apocalypse.

So, no thanks.

I don't necessarily want a Lawrence led Mystique movie or one that follows the character portrayed in DOFP or Apocalypse. I'm imagining a dark, gritty, spy story with Mystique at the helm. I think it could work.

Yes, but if they made a solo film, it would be Lawrence's Mystique. They'd really have to start changing her character like, yesterday if they want a dark, spy story for her.

Hello!

As a new comer into the forum, I just want to say hello to you old folks.

Thanks
