Name of superhero?

I remember reading some magazines about 20 years ago which was pretty awesome back then. But I cant remember what it was called or even if it was marvel or dc.

From what i can remember its about a superhero made entirely of energy inside a space suit or something like that. In one of the stories he open his helmet to destroy his enemy which almost killed him.

And its not xmen or ironman
