Post your ideas on how a Namor movie could be different from the Aquaman movie.

RULES
1.This is not a DC bashing thread. Dont turn it into one
2.No saying Aquaman movie will definitely suck.At all.
3.Have fun

I wouldn't do a Namor solo at all. Either do Invaders or have him as a villain.

Wouldnt an invaders movie just be a Captain america movie?

More of a team-up. I don't think you even strictly need Cap in the film for the concept to work. In fact, it might be better if Cap isn't in it.

I admit not knowing much about the invaders. But from what I know its just a Nazi-fighting team of superheros which was lead by Cap.Id say Nazi fighting would be Caps"thing" which is why Id say an Invaders movie would be better with Cap tahn without.

I like the idea of a Namor solo about him being a sympathethic villain.Something like World war Namor.

Make him the baddie in Avengers. Then we find out it was his evil brother manipulating events.

Simple is usually best.

Namor the anti-hero. I loved the 60's stuff where the USA was testing atomic bombs underwater and thereby threatened Atlantis. Namor was best when he fought the good guys.

Namor should have a solo just take the characters seriously and rely on the brand.

Have Namor as a villain, but by misunderstanding so he can still appear as a hero, Namor is at his best when he's protecting his people.

Or a villain that is in the right. We have decimated the planet. If there was another intelligent race living here they might have the hump with us. Have him try to scare us with destruction. He means it as a bluff but his second in command uses it to try and get rid of Namor and humanity. Namor and the Avengers then save us, we in turn then carry on like nothing has happened and keep on polluting.

G'day,

Namor deserves his own movie because it allows Marvel to do something seldom done before : an epic undersea adventure. Don't just have him in the deep sea but in bright lite coral areas , full of life. Have him swimming with whales etc. Visually it would be dazzling.

Assuming DC are doing Arthur Curry Aquaman , don't do Namor McKenzie . Namor is not really a villain he is noble but doesn't like surface dwellers because of what they did to his people .

I'm not sure how much of the Marvel undersea myths you would want to introduce? Should there be Leumuria or just Atlantis? Having only Atlantis would be simpler. In any case heres's my rough outline.

Atlantis was a land area with an advanced technology during the Ice Age. When the Ice Age ended rising sea levels wiped out the land mass. most people left the island but some decided to enclose their main city in a dome making it an undersea city. This went well for several hundred years and the people genetically modified themselves so they could breath and live under water for extended periods. Some went all the way and became mermen/maids. then either war or natural disaster destroyed Atlantis but not before Prince Namor was able to save several hundred Atlantians including himself by putting them into suspended animation.

Dr Walter Newell (Stingray, good guy) working for Captain Barracuda (bad guy) discovers a submarine containing the hibernating Namor. He is woken up but is suspicious of the surface dwellers, his suspicions are confirmed when he finds out Barracuda wants the location of Atlantis so he can exploit the technology. Dramatic incidents happen.

In the end Namor is able to use some surface tech to begin rebuilding Atlantis and has an uneasy truce with the surface dwellers.

I'm sure something much better can be done but throw in a few hot swimmer chicks and I think it would work.

Yeah absolutely, I was kind of vague with my description.

Your idea is very similar to the plot of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, if you haven't seen it I recommend it, but my point being, even though we know Apes eventually end up ruling and technically they are the enemy of us humans, you still root for them and their leader, you understand their motivations and reasons of behaviour because of their prior treatment by humans. Some of them hate humans for good reason, pretty much all of them don't trust them, so they keep to themselves, until humans intrude on them, their leader Ceaser doesn't want war, but will fight to protect his apes as any leader should, but a fellow Ape high in rank named Koba despises humans and does want war, he plots behind the scenes to realise his wish. Sure you hate that guy, but that's the point.

Perhaps a Namor vs Human Torch period piece could work? Set at the same time as Agent Carter, perhaps the SSR could be involved. Have Namor attack New York due to a misunderstanding, and have the SSR dust off the android to protect the city, you then get fire v water as a theme.

Bring in Falsworth part way through and have him unite both Namor and Human Torch against a common enemy, and you then lead into an Invaders sequel (without Cap, but Union Jack could take on his role, perhaps given a serum of his own).

I would like to see more historic Marvel (I enjoyed the first cap film partly because of its setting).

I'd use him as a villain. Maybe give us an epic Wakanda vs. Atlantis clash in a future movie.

This is a great angle but I think DC is going to beat Marvel to the punch on this one. It's ironic to me that Marvel gets Quicksilver to the big screen before Flash but DC will get Aquaman out there before Namor. In both cases the copycat precedes the original.

Well, Fox got in there first really. Days of Future Past...

Id use him as an antihero.

Whilst Aquaman movies are more likely to concentrate on him being the king and protector of Atlantis.Namor movies will be about Namor attacking the surface world for justified reasons.

That has so much potential! And while BP and Namor are squaring off on Earth they could have the War of Kings arc going on in outer space.

Q:Who owns the Savage land? Marvel or Fox?

Actually you can go even farther back. The after credits scene in Winter Soldier and before that during the prison scene in the wretched X-Men Origins: Wolverine (the character flashing around at supersonic speed with the silver hair is clearly supposed to be Quicksilver).

Good point - that would definitely work. You also have multiple levels of continuity and history with Namor. He's one of Marvel's oldest characters. Tie the plot into the Golden Age and include his battle against the original Human Torch. You also have the Invaders and WWII. Perhaps even a version of the Defenders down the road with Strange and Hulk and Valkyrie. And then there's the Illuminati. I certainly would use all of this material if I was Marvel. Use the characters at your disposal especially since a huge part of his story is lost because of the Fantastic Four being orphaned off over at Fox.

I'm going to guess Marvel because of Ka-Zar.

Do they own villains like Sauron who inhabit it or does he just fight Jurassic Park?

Better yet are they able to use the word "Mutates" as opposed to Mutants?

Just brainstorming since Namor himself is said to be a mutant. They could just replace the Savage Land's Mutate creator (Magneto) with the High Evolutionary and have Namor and the Twins have ties with him down the road.
