I have not seen anyone speak of this rumor from January, but I can see the logic of at least a larger reference in the upcoming movies before his actual featured role (wherever that will be). As the article states, it is basically fishing for clues.

He has been teased in various ways during most of the MCU thus far. Clearly he IS being planned. When and how is the question.

Here is a paragraph from the article that led to this thought.

"So while the Mandarin and The Ghost are possibilities, we think there might be another possibility. As already mentioned, Marvel Studios is shooting in a coastal town in a facility that boasts a special effects water tank as one of its selling point. The location lends itself to a water-based villain, which got us thinking."

I know, it's fishing...but I'd rather this than with Fox's FF.

Namor of all people. It's more than fishing. I suppose, everyone else has been 'rumoured' by this stage. I'm just wondering how many times they have to say 'no cameos' before people stop reporting them.

Also, where are the Namor clues in the MCU? I haven't heard of even one.

One of the set reports said that there's a crashed airplane underwater in one scene, right....?

Oh, ****. I bet it's Air Force One.

***Edit: Here's the report, from latinoreview:

I happened to have been in Wilmington recently visiting the movie that was in production on those Screen Gems stages directly before ‘Iron Man 3.’ They were in the middle of constructing a large underwater tank and what looked like the interior of a jet fuselage (though it could also be some fancy windows in an underwater structure, it was just a skeleton when I peeped it).

The debriefing at the end of Iron Man 2.

Fury's map has a target placed in roughly the same area as Namor's sanctuary.

Actually, that marker between Greenland and Iceland is more indicative of Marvel's Atlantis than the one off the coast of Brazil.

I always thought the one between Greenland and Iceland was where they found the frozen Rogers. Its an odd route to take from Germany to New York, but probably the only place between the two that fits what we saw in the opening of Cap: TFA.

I believe it may be shorter to go up towards Greenland/Iceland and then down to the US then straight across the Atlantic. I think that the curvature of the Earth plays a big part in this, as does getting out of the different wind currents that lessen fuel economy as a plane heads westward.

Interesting! Good to know. So I stand by that that is what I think that part of the map is referring to.

So the map shows: Captain America's ice cube in the Arctic; Thor, somewhere in Norway; Namor in Atlantis; Black Panther in Wakanda; New York City, who could be anybody and everybody in Marvel (but just for the sake of belligerence, I'm going to say the Fantastic Four --- HA); and then presumably, Iron Man's L.A. home and Hulk's New Mexico gamma base are hidden behind Nick Fury's silhouette.

I'd say the New Mexico is the events of Thor while the Norway one probably corresponds to the Cube when it was found in Tonsberg.

i've been wondering if that northern europe mark is a Latveria Reference (putting a spot their wouldn't be copyright infringed) or if that's Norway, where a few events have taken place (though, technically none were at this current time (Thor and Caps flashback scenes/ Avengers)

Thor's mark is actually in New Mexico on that map.. but you can't see it. Hulk's is the one in New York

Ironmans is also on their, but in California

the map is marking Incidents or "superhuman occurances"

Hulk = brooklyn
thor = new mexico
Cap = Artic
IronMan = California

(these events were all happening at the same time, though i guess the california marker could be someone else, and Iron Man's could be the Stark Expo battle)

maybe it's not Namor but the Black Panther - he was hinted at in IM2, too...

Black Panther is most likely referenced in the bullseye shown in Africa. That shows that the MCU version of Wakanda seems to be roughly between Kenya and Tanzania.

Seeing as how Marvel doesn't have the rights to the FF (as far as we know), I'd say it's Luke Cage/Iron Fist/Moon Knight/Punisher.

I dont expect Namor till after a Black Panther film tbh, so maybe after 'The Avengers 2' we will see Namor.

Regarding that logic, we can easily just say that the mysterious other dot represents Black Widow or Hawkeye. Either of which would make sense considering the flying base of Shield is a helicarrier which is normally at sea.

except they're not considered "super humans" I'm sure widow isn't the only skilled spy out their, nor Hawkeye the only "expert marksman"

tony stark however is the only one that's possessing a flying armored battle suit and has gotten into very public battles with "copy cats" over it. Thor to our knowledge is the only God (at that time) to have landed on earth, Banner is the only Gamma Radiated man, Cap is the only super soldier, etc... etc...

Not to mention that Black Widow (for sure) and Hawkeye (probably) are already employed by SHIELD in IM2, so it makes no sense that they'd be "targets" still out there for Fury to find and recruit.

Um...Seaweed Man's Lair?

:dry:

No.
It`ll tease either Hulk, Thor 2, Captain America 2 or Ant Man. Most likely Hulk or Ant Man

Would love to see Namor on screen at some point. I actually think a younger Hugo Weaving would be a great Namor (yes I know he's already Red Skull). But ultimately I don't think Namor has any point showing up in Iron Man 3 does he?

Yes, it's indeed been confirmed! Namor WILL be in the next Ironman movie. The working title is 'IRON MAN 3: FINDING NAMO'. Ellen degeneris will reprise her role as a goofy talking fish who helps Ironman FIND NAMO! This movie will have no violence and be filled with cute lovable characters in the Disney/Pixar tradition. Man I can't wait to see this movie, it's gonna rock the house!!!
