For me it's the other way around, District 9 has only gotten more cemented as great with time, in my mind.

It's not like District 9 is some sugar rushed and extremely entertainment focused movie. It's biggest strengths is it's huge heart and it's immersively gritty and cool sc-fi way of presenting it's sociopolitical themes.
