The Gone World

Blomkamp making a time travel movie should be a good change of pace for him. Historical locations will get rid of those nagging complainers who act like he only shoots in Joburg.

Filmmaker Neill Blomkamp has confirmed that he’s still planning to direct a film adaptation of author Tom Sweterlitsch’s sci-fi time travel procedural thriller novel “The Gone World”.
Set in Western Pennsylvania in 1997, the story follows Shannon Moss who works for a clandestine division within the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). She is assigned to solve the murder of a Navy SEAL’s family – and to locate his missing teenage daughter.
The SEAL was an astronaut aboard the spaceship U.S.S. Libra which was thought lost to the darkest currents of Deep Time. Moss herself has had firsthand experience with the mental trauma of time-travel.
So what’s the latest on that project? Blomkamp recently noted in an interview that he still hopes to make the film, and he revealed on Twitter today that it’s in the works! Presumably, it will be his next feature film.
Blomkamp took to Twitter today with a photo of the book cover and the caption: “This just arrived. Truly incredible book by @LetterSwitch . So excited to direct this for @20thcenturyfox.”
