Animation Netflix's Castlevania

Great new season. While I feel like it could have been tightened up a bit (I got a little tired of the “I am Sekhmet!” “No, I am Sekhmet!” towards the end and for the love of God just die already, Drolta) but I really enjoyed it overall and all the characters got their moment to shine.

Also, for my fellow FromSoft fans out there… MOONLIGHT GREATSWORD!!!!

Overall, I thought Season 2 was an improvement, but what the heck is Old Man Coyote supposed to be? I dunno, this just sort of felt like the natural end point of the show other than a lack of resolution for Tera and the Old Man Coyote business. Though I'd want to see a series exploring Simon Belmont and his era in a spinoff.

I like the idea that due to his immortality that Alucard is like this mysterious weird uncle who shows up for the Belmonts from time to time. His relationship with Juste was amusing, "I was 14 the last time I saw you!"

I do think Warren Ellis not being involved anymore is one of the best things that could've happened to the series. His influence was clearly hurting the show in its later seasons.

If the show does continue, I hope the writers know what they are doing. Season 3 of the previous series is when it started going off the rails.

I also hope Dracula returns at some point. I get that the show(s) want to avoid the familiar territory of the games with having Dracula always being the main antagonist. And to their credit, they’ve incorporated some interesting villains based on real historical figures or fictional characters who have ties to the vampire mythos. But in the end, part of the selling point of Castlevania has always been Dracula. It’s a bit weird that he hasn’t been involved in so long, even though we know he’s still alive according to the show. Since Nocturne is loosely based on Symphony of the Night, I hope we get to see Alucard face off against his dad in season 3.

The problem is that at the end of Season 4, Dracula no longer had a reason to take his revenge against humanity. So they'd have to do a lot to showcase why Dracula breaks bad again. Dracula was usually shown to be a tragic antihero who genuinely loved his wife and basically wanted to be left alone. But Season 4 ended with Dracula and his wife being resurrected and being given a happily ever after ending, except for the whole immortality thing and how Dracula would likely outlive his wife anyway.

Old Man Coyote doesn't seem to have any connection to Dracula.

Nocturne used alternate villains from Bloodlines, even though the series was loosely adapting Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night, where Dracula is still the villain in both games.

If Twitter/X is banned here, the screenshots should be as well IMHO.

Mainly one of the creators trying to hype up the numbers to create buzz for Season 3. The problem is that Netflix keeps all their numbers and metrics a secret mostly, so we don't know what they are going by.

I've been waiting for a while for an announcement on the next Masters of the Universe season, but there's been not a peep on it for like a year.

Hopefully there will be a season 3. Though if it ended here, I wouldn’t be angry.

Still hoping we eventually get a Simon spinoff, even if it’s just a short miniseries or movie. Animation needs to redeem him after Captain N! I will never forget what they did to him!

Yes. And I the only look for Simon I will accept is Fabio Conan with a whip.

Samesies, lol!

I can't remember Castlevania lore, but Simon is Trevor's grandson right?

It depends, in the alternate Lords of Shadow timeline, he's the son of Trevor Belmont. In the original timeline, he's a more distant relative. Trevor was born in 1456 and Simon was born over two hundred years later. So more like a great-great-great-grandson.

Honestly, I'd love to see Trevor and Sypha back, so having a Simon centric story with those two back as his grandparents and side characters would be awesome.

You could always fudge the timelines I suppose. One thing about Simon while he was very strong, he's not a magic user and was never good with magic. A big part about Nocturne was that the Belmonts gained magical and speaker abilities due to Trevor and Sypha's union, making their bloodline even more powerful. And then Richter gained ultimate power having both the strength of the Belmonts and the magical abilities of the Speakers.

If they're going to fudge the timelines maybe they can have him be like Geralt, an amazing swordsman but with very limited magical abilities. The books forget that his understanding of magic was super low and made up with his incredible physical prowess and knowledge of swordsmanship.

Having Simon be the first Belmont to show SOME magic being passed down would be a cool revelation.
