Oh, you can bet the farm that they're going to be plastering 'from the writer and director of Pan's Labyrinth' all over this puppy.I would put it in October to market it as as Halloween, scary action film. And put Pan's Labyrinth name all over it.
Oh for heaven's sake people, calm down. The date isn't writen in stone, it can change again.

Thats just plain stupid, what the **** are they thinking? How is HB2 gonna make much money going up against TDK just a week later? ****ing stupid!
^Sorry but i dont see it, TDK has everyone buzzing and IMO it will clean up at the BO with people going to see it multiple times, me included, I personally will also make time to see HB2, but i doubt other people will.
but there inlies the beauty
do you think anyone will be lineing up to see Hancock again?
Maybe, but more than likely no... Hellboy has a prime release date in the heart of summer
Hellboy 2 is gunna be able to dance with the big dogs don't worry July 11th is a good date for a movie that will be able to dance
I think they switched the dates cause no one thinks Mummy will be able to dance
HB2 is going to be both a visual spectacle and a movie that gets great reviews, it'll do fine, I think it may be able to make 100 million
did they really think that one out? going head to head with batman????? who thought that was a good idea.
Oh i know it'll get great reviews, but that rarely means good BO these days does it.
I hope it does make it to $100 million though, that would mean a sequel IMO.
I know but a sweet trailer with great reviews, and solid marketing
it could make 60 million on its opening weekend, I would think in early July, and it'll probably drop down to 20 when Batman gets released but that still puts it at 80, and it can scramble another 20 to get to a 100
it'll do good overseas like the last one too
we'll get a 3
I hope to god all of this is true, but i just cant see it at the moment, i doubt it will make $60 opening weekend, the first HB had great trailers and reviews as well and it didnt help that one out too much.
While true it opened the same weekend as the Passion of the Christ
if its the marquee release of a hot week of summer i can't see it getting less than a 40 opening weekend, and the budget can't be more than 40 so we would still probabbly get a greenlit 3
The budget is around $72 million this time, which if you take into consideration that it's three years since the last one and accounting for inflation, is probably the same level of budget as HELLBOY. Still, the film is a LOT bigger in scope and takes place in the more traditional Hellboy universe. I've seen some of the critters, the sets and know the storyline, and I'm impressed. I'm not terribly happy about the July release date - I would have been happier if the release was just after Comic Con so that we could get some real buzz going. If Universal have any gumption they'd think about that one.
