Iron Man New Set Report from MTV 05/31/2007

For some reason, I think IM's action figure is going to be hella cool.

Downey seemed incredibly uninterested.. and the Interviewer wasn't all that great either. John definitely spiced it up, though.

Tim Kash:wow: is he on MTV US now ?

Still no vid for those of us outside the US but the more i see the more i like,Iron man is actually number 3 right now on my list for 2008:up:

I agree, this interview was very awkward and uncomfortable. Downey seemed uninterested and almost absent there. Its like he's ashamed of being in a comic book movie or something. Plus just how they were messing around...a rather unprofessional interview, if you ask me. But this is MTV so whadaya expect.

No I think it was Viacom throwing it's little baby from MTV to visit it's other baby (Paramount) to get this scoop in the "thick of things" as Favreau stated. Obviously they can't reveal to much at this stage being about a year away. It probably was a surprise interview to them.

Yea the interview did seem a bit akward but it seemed like it was more the interviweres fault. He was not doing a good job of asking interesting questions. It looked Like downey and Favs were having a bit of fun at his exspense. The interview was just not very professional. Once Favs stepped in things got a bit better. I dont think Downey liked the interviewer lol. Perhaps they were
interupted as AD stated.

Side note, I want that Helmet!

Why would downie start to feel uncomfortable about all this all of a sudden... it's like a total 180, very very bizarre... i wonder if it's just a bad day but if it's honestly like he's now like feeling "all above" the material that's gonna piss me off... cuz it' slike don't do the damn film if your'e gonna behave like that

That's what I think too. These guys get into the character and work long hours and then they meet up with this interviewer that was almost as bad as me with Doug Jones. LOL RDJ's attitude doesn't bother me at all. I'd prefer they stay off the set actually so my prying eyes stop taking in all this before the film comes out. :)

Uh, no. They're movie stars...they're use to interviews. It isn't like they are all new to Hollywood and they've never had a mic stuck in front of their face on set.

And that doesn't have much to do with how awkward the interview was.

^ Did you notice nobody else has had a set interview with videos like this since the real early AICN one. Nope. MTV and Paramount are both under Viacom. My guess is Viacom pushed their way onto the set to get an interview. At the very least they probably could have had an interviewer that looked like he had done it before. Of course they agreed to do it but I don't think they took it too seriously. I think the interviewer was just awkward. Cool to be him on set though.

I don't know why you're overanalyzing this so much. Regardless of the backstory or politics or whatever, it was an awkward interview, and Downey acted very peculiar and distant.

I think you're reading too much into it.

There could be many reasons he didn't give a "wide eyed, impassioned interview." He may not like doing live interviews. Especially toward the MTV crowd.

Hahaha! This interview wasn't awkward at all! Obviously the kid conducting it was just a really clueless *****e. You could tell Jon and Robert were having a field day with him. The helmet looks spot-on, the action's intense, great casting... I really pumped for this flick!!!

Side note: Jon looks like he's finally back in great shape! Glad to see he lost some weight. I was rather surprised... nearly looks like he did back in the days of Swingers!

An interview is an interview. Don't let it deter the movie. The movie will always be what the movie is.

Those clips were great! Can't wait to see the aerial dogfight between IM and the raptors.

Now, that was some great footage. Very simple and to the point but a small taste of what we're in for.
