new "spirit" trailer

Mostly sweet.

The dialogue was crap, but that was expected. He doesn't talk like the Spirit at all. I loved every scene except any with the Octopus. He just sucks. He's terrible in this film.

My last 'con', but it's more of a funny thing is Dolan's excessive use of the word 'damn'... and the ONLY reason I say that is because we were joking just yesterday about how Miller invented the official Justice League slogan! In ONE ISSUE of All Star Batman and Robin, he has Superman say "damn you" to Wonder Woman, who said "damn you" to Superman, while Green Lantern says "damn you" to Batman and Batman says "damn you" about twelve times in one issue. The only Justice League member who hasn't used the new Justice League motto of "damn you" is Plastic Man.

What diverse characterization and dialogue. :wow:

The trailer looks amazing. It started out very Sin City, which is to be expected... to aim at the proper audience. The atmosphere is great for this, as are the angles used. The cinematographer is really getting creative. I was happy to see the Wildwood Cemetery sign. The invincibility is a lot to swallow, but it seems like it could be done somewhat right. Honestly, other than the fact that the dialogue is utter garbage, and not suited for the lead character, and the Octopus being a ******ed joke, it's an amazing trailer.

It's a lot to look at, which for this sort of film is great.

honestly, this is a HUGE improvement from the previous trailer.

I do like the surrealism, and there's a bit of more color this time around.

I do agree that the dalogue is too "Miller"; it tries to hard to be cool. I wonder how will they work within context But we'll see.

I feel like I'm in an abusive relationship with this film.

Every few weeks we get a trailer or a poster or an interview or a clip, and it makes me feel funny. I know inevitably that I'll be in a movie theater on christmas day watching that movie, and I know it's just gonna hurt. But every time I see a nugget of eisner slip out, It makes me think that the possibility of the film being great is too cool to pass up.

I don't know what to say. I'll probably still check it out though.

Looks good to me, but I just know that all the hardcore Eisner nerds will be pissing all over it soon enough.

Gah! After watching this for the umpteenth time (it's that watchable, yes) I just noticed that Dolan's hair doesn't have the 'duck tail'. :csad:

It's fine. It was one of the little things I was hoping for, as a nod to Eisner's work, but I'll live. :oldrazz: Just had been waiting for confirmation, and this trailer was so much to look at that I missed it the first 3 times I watched it.

Dolan had some really original/iconic hair in the comic. It was intense.

I just knew that the new trailer was going to be more appealing to the naysayers. Very nice!:yay:

well it looks like sin city. of course someone will go into 100% details and try to explain it to me. to the general public this is the same as sin city in terms of visuals.

i will watch this movie

"is every damn broad in this damn city out of their damn mind, damn!"

Trailer looks real good. I want to see it in HD.

meh, better than the last trailer. If they were smart, they would have released this trailer first. It gives me a SLIGHT, SLIGHT, SLIGHT bit of hope. BUT, from the interviews with Jackson, regarding his character and The Spirit's, and this is besides the lack of blue suit, the negatives still outweigh the positives. And "I'm gonna kill you all kinds of death" is perhaps the stupidest thing Miller has ever written. Hell, it's probably one of the stupidest things ever written by anyone.

The one thing i liked: Sand opening the box, with the gold light from the item inside shining on her. Where some will say "Pulp Fiction" rip-off, it's definitely, knowing Miller, a "Kiss Me Deadly" reference, though most will assume it' Pulp Fiction.

Definately a much better trailer then the last one--and it still looks like a fun, watchable flick. :)

I think it's the best trailer for the movie by far, it looks weird as hell but might be fun. Eva Mendes and Scarlett Johanson looked hot.

As someone not very familiar with the spirit, that was a much better trailer. Yep some things in the movie itself don't seem to work but the editing of the trailer is better than the last one, which I consider one of the worst edited trailer ever.

Alot better than the last trailer. I like Frank Miller. And I like comics. And I like this trailer. And I especially like Eva Mendes and Scarlett Johanson. I might check it out.

I think it was a much better trailer, but it did not win me over. The regenerative powers are just plain wrong, and the dialogue was horrendous. It was painful in fact to hear most of those lines delivered. Still not enough to make me want to see it. And it still didn't feel like the Spirit.

I'm big on Eisner and this film looks like it'll be a riot! Sure it's a different take, but it's cheesy-noir fun. "I'll kill you all kinds of dead" is ****ing hilarious.

Here's my take on the regenerative powers that he sort of has in the film: If you look at the Eisner comics, The Spirit gets beaten half to death in almost every story. He almost has re-gen powers in the comics they way he survives so much.

It looks like fun guys, c'mon.

Eva and Scarlett in HD!! :)
