That was when they could get a space for larger expansion and the would be able to get the whole floor. You know that area where there was a travel show going on? Yea they are supposedly getting all of that space too.

Because, they simply schedule for when the Javits has an opening to accommodate them.

Well in that case, thats good. Like I said before, it was way too crowded this year

Well they sold out of weekend tickets and saturday tickets for the first time ever since they have been doing these.

but yeah im totally down that would be cute

yeah it was crowded, but still a good time. better lots of people than dead.
I agree. Man what a weekend. It's like sensory overload. I'm still feeling the effects. Comic Con wiped me out.

Met Uslan

btw. i think i'm over Ellen Muth from Dead Like Me, but really into Britt McKillip (plays Reggie on the show) who I met and talked to at the panel... she really grew up and got way hot!

I dont know if you went last year but it was perfect, so much room to move around. The extra space next year will be a huge plus

Thanks To Nearly 77,000 of My Friends for a Great Con......

I'm tired and stuck in traffic on The Hutch trying to get home to see my resident cat dudes, Editor in Chief and read all the coverage about the con, but I gotta take a moment to say thanks for a kick ass con!!!!!!!

What a weekend and once again New York Comic Con grew by leaps and bounds and we had out first sell out. We are still waiting on a few numbers, but we know that nearly 77,000 people made there way through NYCC this year, up from 67,000 last year. We sold out of tickets on Saturday for the first time in the history of the con and several of our retailer partners sold out of every ticket they had.

All I can say is thanks to all of you. We are living in uncertain economic times and I firmly believed that if we built something cool for you that you would reward us by spending some of your hard earned dough at the con. And in deed you did and I thank you for it.....

I know not everything went perfectly (and I'm also certain that you'll post those instances right here!) But I feel like this con was cooler, more happening and more organized than the last and the last more than the con before that - we continue to grow and strive to give you a better expierecne and I promise we'll keep doing that. You gave me a lot of ideas for improvement this year and I hope you saw some of those ideas in action this weekend and we'll do the same going into next year.

So thank you, 77,000 times, I hope you had as much fun this weekend as we did planning the con and throwing it.

We've got a long time before we do this again (October 2010) but fret not, the fastest growing and second largest con in the U.S. Will not disappoint you when we move to the fall. In the mean time, who's up for some fun in downtown Chicago in a year? Yeah!!!!!

-L

77,000

it looked like fun... I still love reading comics, still mostly Marvel Essentials but I don't know if I have the patience to walk around the Javits with Jar Jar on one side and someone dressed up as Dr. Manhattan.

yeah that whole travel thing... what was up with that? i never went before and my idea was that they'd have a main floor of all comic con stuff so it wasnt so bunched up like it was. just thought it was funny they threw the cons together on the same day.

does the javitz center often do that?

Yes they do. they get booked very quickly. Sometimes they lump events together. The problem was that this was one of the few good dates that they could have booked for the con. Hence why the next one is in october of 2010. They now have it booked early enough to be the only one on that floor if I am not mistaken.

were there more costumed ppl than "normal" clothes people? i know a lot of people dress up and if I go to the one in Philly in June, I doubt I will cosplay at how many people really dress up

Definately more people in civilain wear. Depending on your costume though be prepared to pose for many a picture. I had lots of people ask to take mine.

No kidding. Several times throughout the day I could barely walk two feet without people stopping me and asking for pictures.

I liked it though. It was fun. I especially enjoyed when kids saw me. I heard a few them going to their parents, "Look it's Green Lantern!!" Made me smile every time.

Well you can imagine how it was for me.

I did enjoy it though. Especially when one girl called me an inspiration. That made me smile.

^That is awesome! I'd have stopped you and asked for a pic :o

Dude I think I totally walked by you at some point. I remember the socks lol

Yeah, I turned a lot of heads. I think it was either the obnoxious wig or the fact that I was wearing Crocs, I really don't know. But I had an awesome time! Can't wait for next year.
