News anchor responds to rude email about her weight

How is it none of his business? If you are on TV, your demeanor and appearance are everybody's business.

Well, if he sent it to the news station itself, that may be true. It is my understanding he sent it directly to her work email. Again, the possibility may have been there, but I REALLY don't think he was sending this email to get attention or publicity.

OK, I think I misunderstood that. Still, sending it to her work e-mail opened the door for his message to be used on air.

chaseter came over to my house one time. We were watching the news and he said something about the anchorwoman being too fat and he was going to do something about it while he was typing on his computer. I didn't think anything of it.

Was this before or after you posted your video pleading for people to stop making fun of Britney Spears?

It was a painful event that I do not wish to relive at the moment. Please ask me this at a later time.

Agree with the email sender or not, I dont see how anyone thinks that he wanted this publicity.

lol...I see it as a fair trade. He sent an email to a public figure and she publicly vilified him. Sounds like a fair trade to me.

This is true. When someone chooses to become a celebrity, that's the price they have to pay. When you step in front of a camera, you are open to criticism whether you like it or not. It's indisputable.

I havent heard anyone in this thread complaining about the newscasters weight. Most are making observations/offering opinions whether she is actually obese/overweight or curvy. I dont think her weight is personally bothering anyone in this forum.

Your last statement is 100% correct, it is up to her if she wants to lose the weight.

Good point.

Why did he send it to the local TV news Anchor then?? Why not start sending out to everyone,, neighbors etc.. The guys covert about what hes doing, she knew what he was doing and used it to her benefit.. Both guilty, where s Dredd when you need him

What about the government telling ust? You supported the individual mandate. You pay higher premiums to cover fat people's increased medical costs. Do obese or skinny people have higher risk for diabetes? What about heart attacks? Cancer? What about Michelle Obama? Does she need to **** and quit telling us to be healthy?

No, I support a public option but your flood of over-generalizations was funny to read.

A good point to make about all this is the difference between manners and opinion. You can have your opinion...

For example: try going to work and start calling out overweight people.. Lecture them on health etc... explain to your boss that you have a right to tell them they are overweight and unhealthy, See how long you keep your job.

I'm always at least somewhat amused when someone talks about the freedom to live however we please in America, and then says the equivalent of "But can't you keep your differing opinions to yourself"? If she has the freedom to be fat and to think there's nothing wrong with it or that she doesn't need to change, then the letter writer surely has the freedom to have the opinion that this is a bad thing, doesn't he?

Well I guess the free market will have to settle this.

But guessing from the likely boost in ratings she'll get from the controversy, she'll end up winning in this scenario and you might even see more chubby reporters and news anchors in the near future.

He sent her an e-mail to a public figure that could have been kept private. She DECIDED to make the e-mail public, thus vilifying him and dragging his name through the mud. It's not a fair trade at all. Any negativity she's getting from this was brought on by her own damn self. If she reads the e-mail and decides to delete it or even respond to him via e-mail, this never happens. Hence, why I cannot feel sorry for her.

She absolutely does.

Giving your opinion on a persons bodyweight =/= bullying. Now if he was constantly sending her emails that were saying what a pig she is, thats bullying.

It's not bullying, but it's unnecessary and makes you kind of a ****.

"I'm going to go on tv and tell everyone how much I don't care what you think about me!"

The video wouldn't load for me before, but now it can. Here's what I think:

LOL! She just went on TV and said "YOU DON'T KNOW ME!"

I see it as a fair trade. If he 'supposedly' has the right to say something to her because she is a public figure then she has a the right to publicly vilify him...simple as that. Again, he didn't know her, but felt it was was right to say something because he sees her on TV. She then went on TV and vilified him. Fair trade.

Except it's not a fair trade at all. How you can come to that conclusion is baffling. A private e-mail vs a televised dressing down, how are those two things equal?

Oh, charl. You've breathed new life into the Community Forum in your own way.

It's a simple tit for tat theory. He started it...she finished it. :yay: FYI. I just saw pieces of an interview where the guy apologized...lol

Hasn't she though? Let's keep her.

Awww...you guys are too sweet. Now just don't go around calling people fat pigs or let your children watch porn or horror movies...lol. :woot:

Off to watch Grimm.

It's not about an ideal of beauty, it's about health. Unless you can somehow construe an obese person looking more healthy than an in shape one. Oh, and please don't compare noses, ears, hair or skin color to being fat. One is a direct result of lifestyle.

Apologies for the bump, but when you derogatorily refer to overweight people as "fatties" and "chubbs" I find it hard to believe you're genuinely concerned about the health of overweight people.

I can understand this woman's frustration as for an overweight person, it can be a regular occurrence getting this kind of crap to your face, never mind by e-mail. She shouldn't have to ignore it because this chap should know that it isn't his place to comment. It is none of his business. There are terrible role models for young people across media who are actually glorifying shocking behaviour, but I wonder if this guy wrote e-mails or open letters to them? I doubt it somehow. :whatever:

I'm a 5'7 bloke who at his worst was 17 stone, so I was clinically obese. I've lost all of the weight, but I'll never lose the memory of the constant jibes from both people I knew and from strangers about something that was none of their ****ing business. I understand this woman's thinking, and I say fair ****s to her for using her platform to tell this guy to **** and mind his own business.

I wasn't trying to say I cared for her health at all.

Poor you.

Kenneth Krause has officially apologized for his attack:

Krause has recently apologized for his comments and the hurt feelings he inflicted, not only recanting his position, but also making a revelation. “If she is offended, I truly apologize to Jennifer,” Krause told ABC News. “That’s the last thing I ever wanted to do.”

Krause has since learned that Livingston has a thyroid condition that makes it hard for her to lose weight, despite being a triathlete. Ironically, Krause admitted that he was also obese once — as a child. “I’ve been fighting all my life,” he said about struggling with his weight.

A lesson to be learned: unsolicited personal advice is a terrible idea, especially if you don't know the issues with which someone else is struggling.
