News anchor responds to rude email about her weight

Obviously I dont know what she ate like before the pregnancy and all, but WHY couldnt she eat healthy after having the baby?

My friend always did her own cooking before the baby was born, but her mother and mother-in-law came to help with the baby during that first month and they did all the cooking. They do not cook as healthy as my friend, but since she had to eat she ate what was available. When she was finally on her feet it was difficult for her to go to the grocery store because she really struggled with having a newborn. le sigh...I wish her husband was a like you and more helpful, but he's not really. His helpful suggestion was ordering out, so that didn't help either.

Was she in labor a long time and then had to have a c-section?....Somehow, (the 1st pregnancy) despite 13 hours of labor and a c-section, my wife was ready to go home the next day, she didnt even take any of the meds. She was tough.

Yes, she was in labor and resisted having the c-section for a long time until it became a medical necessity. lol...your wife is tough, but my friend was in a lot of pain. She said it hurt to do everything. It took her a while to get back to where she could walk to the bathroom without assistance.

I'm sorry but unless he's her doctor or a close family member, her health is none of his business.

None.
Physical condition does not necessarily have to do with health its the state of the body, there's no question zero question none that she's obese. In his case it was a nicer way of saying "hey i saw you show i while ago and you were fat, and now i see it again and you're still fat."And I said it was nicer not that it was nice.

So we agree he was nothing more than a troll and bully.

Her weight is her own agenda. Just like having bigger ears/nose or pale skin or having red hair. You shouldn't have to change those things to fit someone else's narrow ideal of beauty.

It's not about an ideal of beauty, it's about health. Unless you can somehow construe an obese person looking more healthy than an in shape one. Oh, and please don't compare noses, ears, hair or skin color to being fat. One is a direct result of lifestyle.

Those who blame being fat on genetics are just too lazy to try, I know many people from fat families who are in shape. Fat people from fat families has more to do with them sharing similar diet and similar sedentary lifestyles. Just like in my family we are generally not fat and in shape because we are a Hindu family so we eat mostly vegetarian and my dad (and most of my uncles) were athletes so my sister and I are, as are my cousins. When we get together as a family it's about playing football, everybody playing, not sitting at the table for hours on end eating.

Just got back from the dojo btw. Second workout for the day.

How is her health any of your business?

She made it everyone's business making it a topic on the public airways on the news. Did you miss that part? When did I say her health was my business anyways? I say she's a fat pig who us a bully under the guise of standing up for herself. The worse type of bully, the self righteous one.

I say she's a fat pig.

Is that really necessary? I get you are health conscious and support a healthy lifestyle, but calling anyone who struggles with their weight a fat pig just seems wrong...especially when you may not know why they struggle with weight issues.

All she is doing is challenging a superficial value system and she should be commended.

Her appearance doesn't determine her worth and her health is a personal matter.

You may say she looks like a pig but others might say your shallow and crass attitude toward this woman makes you the piggy.

I am shallow and crass. I don't subject the entire viewing audience expecting the news to my fatty rage disguised as righteous indignation though. Maybe we should give all of them a platform to vent from.

Quit trying to white knight some chick you don't know. It's this same type of attitude that's getting the guy who sent her an email attacked on all sides.

I could say more, but board rules ya know.

Those who fail at being exceptional seem to settle for being pitied or wanting to be a victim. I don't go for it, too many pity parties going on and many of the worst offenders are the overweight. It's their health (but most cannot provide medical proof of a condition) or their job, or somebody else cooking for them and wrecking their diet, or their baby wrecking their sleep so they get fat. Nothing is ever anyone's fault anymore, everyone's failings are always outside themselves. Store doesn't sell XXXXXXXL shirts, it's called thin privilege now. Nobody owns it anymore.

Well I'm certainly not on TV trying to start a pity party over a single viewer email.

I get it. I don't think the letter is bullying, but it just seems you are kind of...idk...harsh about it.

I wish I could be harsh about it ... but rules and all. Someone sent a public figure an email, rather than delete it and move on an issue is made of it even though she admits to being overweight. She talks about bullying while using public airwaves and an audience of millions to snipe back (and incite other people, because it's happening) at someone under the guise of being anti-bullying while being the biggest (haha) bully of them all.

How many negative emails does any other newsperson get on a daily basis? Do they make it a matter of the public record? No, this lady made an issue of it. She wanted attention or she wanted to attack this person out of anger or whatever other reason there may be. It just proves that she is not objective at all as a newsperson and not at all above abusing the public trust. Peter Jennings didn't make his cancer or himself the story. Anderson Cooper's show was on hiatus and he was in Africa when he confirmed that he was gay to a friend in an email. When a journalist forwards their own agenda or make themselves the story they loose all credit.

I'm 'overweight' and personally I think this is ridiculous. I'm sure a LOT of celebs that are overweight get the same sort of emails, and they have never made this huge thing of it.

Don't give air time to this debate. Ignore this small mindedness.

I had a chance to attend a seminar for women which features one of the local newscasters in my area, Michaela Pereira. She's not a small women either and she talked a lot about how many negative emails she gets on a daily basis. She also mentioned that she gets emails about her weight. So, I do agree with you that taking note of this one email was probably a defensive mechanism on her part and should haven't been something she shared on air.

I guess for me weight loss is such a personal issue that I find it hard to sit on the outside and judge what that person may be going through. I think of my friend who really struggles with this and she hates that she can't just lose the weight as fast as she gained it. I really feel for her and her plight.

So why are we defending the *****ebag who emailed this woman about her weight?

I still don't see how the viewer's mail was condescending. It was a civil explanation of his concern about her obese appearance's affect on young, female viewers and how that could be a form of our public's acceptance of obesity. America's acceptance of obesity is very troubling and this calm and rational letter is the very least of our worries when compared to the health dangers obesity brings.

Being a girl, I normally don't like knocking a woman for her weight, but I have to agree with this. Even if his letter could be construed as condescending, it's not as though he was lying about anything.

I have a question: if she had been severely underweight for years, and the guy's letter had called her out on that, would those who have been criticizing him still be outraged?
