■ About

Ni-no-Kuni-II-Revenant-Kingdom_2018_10-24-18_001.jpg

The title and contents of “Labyrinth of the Ghost King,” the first large-scale downloadable content for Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom due out this winter, have finally been revealed.

The main offering of the first large-scale downloadable content is the addition of the deep random dungeon called “Labyrinth.” This is a super difficult dungeon that is even harder than the high difficulty “Faraway Forest” dungeon.

Additionally, the downloadable content is highlighted by a “Gokui” system that creates an entirely new battle style than seen thus far, new weapons, new quests that touch upon the main characters’ pasts, and more.

*The latest version of Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kigndom is required to play the first large-scale downloadable content.

*The “Labyrinth” of the first large-scale downloadable content can be played after clearing the Chapter 4 scenario quest of Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kigndom.

■ New Random Dungeon: “Labyrinth”

Summary

Ni-no-Kuni-II-Revenant-Kingdom_2018_10-24-18_002.jpg

A mysterious gate suddenly appeared at the Rubbly Ruins. Beyond the gate is a chaotic space where the cause of the tainted can be found.

“The Ghost King Lamikyl,” who rules over the Labyrinth, seems to be using the tainted to try to destroy Evan’s kingdom of Evermore.

If the Labyrinth is left alone, the tainted will slip out from the gate and swallow up Evermore. In order to defeat Lamikyl, Evan and company take on the Labyrinth…

A Labyrinth Covered in Mysteries

The Labyrinth was created long ago to seal something away, but now that it has carried out its duty, a chaotic random dungeon seems to be spreading within it. The tainted that drifts from the gate signals the dungeon’s terror… What lies in wait at its innermost depths?

■ New Boss: “The Ghost King Lamikyl”

The Ghost King Lamikyl

Once the king of Endrasis, a kingdom that was located in the Heartlands. Now the ruler of the Labyrinth, it is said that no one who has witnesses the mysterious Lamikyl returns alive. He was somehow tainted by darkness and became “The Ghost King,” but what is his purpose..?

■ New System: “Gokui System”

A new system called the “Gokui System” that evolves the battle system of the player character has also been added. It appears that new changes will be added to the battle style by understanding the “Gokui” items that certain characters leave behind…. As for exactly what Gokui is, stay tuned for a future update.

■ Over 80 New Equipment Items

Over 80 new weapons and armor equipment items have been added. From those with a glistening and gem-like radiance to those that give off a sinister aura, but just how strong are they…?

■ New Quests for Main Characters

New quests that revolve around Evan’s heartening comrades have been added. While the pasts of these characters have not been much discussed before, their truths will finally be revealed.

■ A Rematch with a Certain Boss

Finally another battle with a certain boss that you fought in the main story!? Stay tuned for a future update.

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is available now for PlayStation 4 and PC.

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom DLC ‘The Tale of a Timeless Tome’ details High Higgledies, new Martial Methods, more
Published 1 day ago. 2 comments.
More on the March 19-due add-on.

Following yesterday’s trailer, publisher Bandai Namco and developer Level-5 have released new information and screenshots for Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom‘s second large-scale downloadable content, “The Tale of a Timeless Tome,” which will launch on March 19.

Get the details below.

■ 01. Character Episodes: Delve Into Each Character’s Past

The Conductor that Evan meets in his dreams teaches him “Mind Picker,” magic that gives shape to memories. By using “key items” created with that magic, it is said to be possible to open a door that leads to a “Memory Lane” swirling with a person’s memories.

—Shell Ring

A small, toy-like ring shaped by memories. Its owner is Queen Nerea, who is always adorned with expensive items. The Nerea you meet in this Memory Lane seems to be preparing for a wedding ceremony, but…!?

—Fish Earrings

Chic earrings that shaped by memories. These are worn by Aranella. In this Memory Lane, Evan and the others encounter Aranella, but it seems that the memory is somehow interrupted before the coup d’etat.

■ 02. High Higgledies: The Keys to the Story

High Higgledies are special beings born from people’s emotions. Though they dwell in the heart of one’s memories and thoughts, they seem to be exposed to the threat of the Nightmares. Evan and the others receive a request from the Conductor to save them.

—High Higgledies are also reliable partners. In battle, they will fight alongside you as reassuring allies.

■ 03. New Martial Methods: “The Wizard’s Companion” and “Martha’s Method”

The first large-scale add-on, “The Lair of the Lost Lord,” added a new combat style system called “Martial Methods.” In this add-on, two new Martial Methods are introduced.

The Wizard’s Companion

As the fundamental book for those who want to become a wizard, The Wizard’s Companion is the tome of the magic method. This book appeared in the original Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Wish as the most important item in the story, and it is deeply tied to the story of this add-on as well. By learning the magic method, you will be able to fire powerful magic blast after blast.

Martha’s Method

As its name implies (Auntie Martha is the higgledy caretaker), this method specializes in higgledy-based tactics. Assemble the power of higgledies, who normally take action on their own, to unleash an instant blast of tremendous force.

■ 04. New Enemies: The Nightmares

The Nightmares are villainous new enemies feared even by the Conductor. Not only are they dreadful in appearance, as their name implies their strength is also nightmare-level.

Nightmare Lord

A troublesome enemy that storms the field and uses dreadful magic. It is important to dodge its heavy hits and get in an attack.

■ 05. Battle Arena: Solosseum Slog

“Solosseum Slog” is a battle arena with randomly generated battles set against the clock. A series of high-difficulty battles await, and depending on your rank, which is determined by your clear time, you can receive prize from one of five classes. Utilize your weapons and Martial Methods in order to get the best items.

The highly anticipated anime movie based on the acclaimed Ni no Kuni game series has received its first teaser trailer, giving us our first good opportunity to learn more about the animation's story and main characters. The anime will be focused on Yū, Haru, and Kotona's friendship and their great quest to save Kotona's life by traveling back and forth between our reality and the odd Ni no Kuni world.

Considering that Ni no Kuni is being directed by Yoshiyuki Momose (The Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Pom Poko), with his long-time collaborator Joe Hisaishi (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away) composing the score, it comes as no surprise that the quality of the actual animation and soundtrack might easily rival Studio Ghibli's best productions such as Howl's Moving Castle and My Neighbor Totoro.

Warner Bros. Japan and Level 5 have also confirmed that Kento Yamazaki (Death Note, Orange) will voice Yū, with Mamoru Miyano dubbing Yoki, Kenjiro Tsuda starring as Gabaras, Maaya Sakamoto as Saki and Velsa, Kouichi Yamadera as Balton, Yuuki Kaji as Danpo, and Serishun and Haruka Minase.

Be sure to take a closer look at OLM's take on Level 5's beloved Ni no Kuni series down below:
