Nicolas Cage is The Bad Lieutenant

I just got a copy of the original... is it any good?

As a movie, the originals pretty attrocious.

It's just got a notorious rep because of some of the stuff that Keitel's character get's up to. Some of it is pretty funny actually, as it's so darned absurd.

this looks like a mess, especially with chubby boy kilmer in it.

Werner Herzog for Ghost Rider 2?

As Herzog's filmography has shown, he can shoot a movie about anything and make it deeply interesting. I'd watch Herzog's Ghost Rider 2, even if it was just Nicholas Cage riding a bicycle with a white sheet over his body.

Like when he pulls the two girls in the car over.......................:lmao:

I could not stop cracking up.... it had its moments. Guess if you are really bored and want to lose a few brain cells... watch the original.

Yeah.

I tend to use the >> to skip past the crap to the good stuff. So after about 10 minutes, it's pretty much done.

Keitel's face when he gizzes is hilarious. :pal:

And then just zips up his fly, turns around and walks off without saying a word.

If ever there was a WTF moment in those girls lives - that was it. :hehe:

Just thought of something - perhaps we few who have actually seen the original should also issue a warning to anyone thinking about watching it.......................

Be prepared to see a totally naked full frontal Harvey Keitel smacked up off his t*ts, blubbing like a baby.

Not for the faint hearted.

I'm telling you man, Harvey Keitel has the worst cry in cinema history, it's so hilarious that it's almost painful to watch.

Yeah, that pathetic howl is the thing that throws me off the most about the entire performance and makes me wonder how people can possibly like Keitel's acting in that flick. It is soooooooooo bad.

The original was trash.

This movie looks awesome and insane and very Herzog.

I love that synopsis:

In Werner Herzog’s highly anticipated new film, Nicolas Cage plays a man as devoted to police work as he is to scoring drugs. A high-functioning addict who is a deeply intuitive, fearless detective, he ranges over the beautiful ruins of New Orleans with authority and abandon. Adding to his tumultuous life is the prostitute he loves (played by Eva Mendes). Together they descend into their own world marked by desire, compulsion, and conscience. The result is a singular masterpiece of filmmaking: equally sad and manicly humorous.

"Equally sad and manically humerous"

Perfect description for Herzog's work.

I absolutely adore Herzog. I saw Nosferatu again last night. That movie rocks, is awesome and badass. Nobody makes films like Herzog. The humour, the landscapes, the music and the new images. There should be a Herzog thread.

I'm making it.
