Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed the new trailer online for The Invasion, starring Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, Jeremy Northam and Malin Akerman. Opening August 17, the sci-fi action thriller is directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel.

I wonder...if a director's cut will be released? In case some of you don't know...

Originally wrapped in early 2006, the film underwent massive reshooting in 2007. The reason for this was the studio which didn't liked the cut director Oliver Hirschbiegel delivered. To change that, Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski were brought in for rewrites and James McTeigue to direct the new scenes.

This is a Warner film...second time this decade they've done this. The other time being Exorcist: The Beginning.

Morgan Creek Productions fired Paul Schrader after he had submitted a completed movie, saying that he had given them "footage without any of the bloody violence the backers had wanted". He had already made it clear in interviews that he was making more of a psychological drama than an all-out gore-fest. He was fired and Renny Harlin was hired to re-shoot the movie. Almost 90% of the movie was re-shot and at least two characters have been dropped from Paul Schrader's version of the movie. Following the lackluster reception to Harlin's version, though, Schrader's version was finally released as Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist (2005).

Saw about...well, at least a few minutes of Exorcist: The Beginning. One word: Cheesy. Actually own Dominion...and it's boring. Maybe it will grow on me though. At least the film isn't as boring as the commentary track by the director, who, btw, doesn't mention the other film.
