In stead of a more traditional sequel I would rather see an adaption of Crisis on Infinite Earths.
The main character would be Superman, but have supporting roles and cameos of other heros. It would have to be smaller than the comic version, but the same basic story could be told.
This would let audiences see the other heros that WB would like to do features on and gauge the interest in those characters (IE Wonder Woman or The Flash).
Plus it would let Superman reboot at the end. But leaving Batman as the Christian Bale version.
